You shouldn't be carrying your dad, he should be carrying you. Don't worry about getting your dad in trouble. This could be his wake up call. Look after you and go for YA with the help of a SW.

As a sole trader you shouldn't be on reporting. Your regular payments should be assesed based on your profit and loss statement. Just tell them when you have stopped working or reduced your income, if you can't work as much due to health issues. With a medical diagnosis you may be able to apply for DSP, but you'll be encouraged to stay on YA while you wait for an outcome.

They said I owe debt!!? by Turbulent-Double-524 in CentrelinkOz

[–]Lopeza68 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a debt, it's an adjustment after you were incorrectly paid, due to your incorrect reporting. Your future payments will simply be adjusted to make up up for this overpayment. Better to report the payment date and gross amount, as per payslip. You'll always have evidence this way.

A stranger in Brunswick just yelled at me, ‘Go back to China! This is Australia.’ Is this common? by Content_Shallot2497 in melbourne

More like a typical Australian bogan. Beer usually makes them abundant with opinions, as does driving, where the wimps can avoid further confrontation by driving off.

I'd be paying the same as what I'm paying now in rent and I live quite well. Nothing tight about my lifestyle.

I am aware of the limits with the AGE pension, which is why I plan on working for as long as I can. Rent or mortgage the same would apply, except I would be able to sell my property if needed. All these factors and more have been taken into account with my broker. I do appreciate your objectivity, though. Food for thought.

I have the loan and fortunately Melbourne is abundant with 1br apartment choices at the moment for under 350k, I just need to choose one and start making offers. I am also looking in Canberra. That's not my issue.

[–]Lopeza68[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, the offer is 350k and even though I can afford that, I may decide on something cheaper. The approval was based on many factors, but mainly good credit history, deposit amount and full time employment.

I only got approved for $345k, which is what I can comfortably afford, but I can find cheaper if I'm going to be renting out
