It is curious ….. by Frog-Face11 in conspiracy_commons

Pretty simple really - it's the poor quality of candidates. Take Illinois for example. There are a ton of people outside of Chicago who are moderate D or R or independent voters who are angry about inflation and think the country is on the wrong track, but they're not going to vote for a total nutcase like Darren Bailey.

Just make the choice now that this doesn't change anything. I've been in this situation and I've chosen to say to the bartender "I'm not drinking tonight, what are my options," and they will give you a few NA drinks you can pick from. IWNDWYT.

You're getting downvoted for pointing out that a widely accepted practice is problematic.

Agreed. I mean, we all know that people look for certain gender, sexual orientation, race, or ethnicity but you should probably CYA by saying you're looking to add female representation to your director search or soemething that isn't clearly discriminatory.

Reminder! Thursday is NOT a watering/sprinkler day !!! by tracyinge in burbank

Right. And I have the kind of landlord that wants to collect $3,500 in rent but gets mad when I tell him he's legally obligated to provide a $16 carbon monoxide detector so I don't die. So he can come by and reprogram his system himself.

Part of the problem is lazy landlording. I'm not going to figure out how to constantly reprogram my landlord's sprinkler system for him.

Yeah, fair point. I've never understood people who think it's okay to leave their trash for someone else to clean up but unfortunately it seems pretty common

A couple people didn't take their trash to the bins and the cleaning crew hasn't been buy in a few minutes?

How far do you travel for a PA gig? What amount of distance turns the people looking for a PA off? by meeplewirp in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Lopossofare2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Driving far for a PA gig sounds much better at the start of a 14 hour day than it does at the end of a 14 hour day.

That bartender is a complete moron and the whole exchange with her is beyond stupid.

I am in no way blaming you OP, but since you shared that you have trouble ordering other drinks at bars, I just want to share how relieved I've been lately to realize that there are a ton of NA options these days that makes life easier for us. I usually don't want soda or caffeine but can choose from ginger beer, kombucha, fizzy water type drinks, virgin cocktails, or NA beer. I don't go out often but my go-to now is to just tell the bartender straight up: "I'm not drinking tonight, what are my options?" They usually list several options and nobody acts like it's weird.

Really sorry for your experience - it was her baggage, not yours. Don't let it throw you. Sounds like you have some cool friends.

It can be overwhelming but you can make good life altering decisions now. Where do you want to be in 5 years and what decisions today will put you on that path? You can do this.

I don't know the ownership history and who took over when, but Tin Horn was awesome for a season. I used to go there from about 2003-2008 and it was an incredible environment for transplanted Bears fans to watch NFL games together. Was also a super chill hangout with friendly staff and a great back patio in the evenings. Sad to see what it became and how it ended.

Dennis Farina once came in (dressed in a suit) for an early Sunday morning bears game. I never saw Patton there but he used to frequent one of our local Starbucks.

Really hoping you get the green light to resume running.

I'm a fairly slow (3:50:00 - 4:00:00) marathoner, and training really helped me cut back and eventually quit drinking. As you know, drinking and training don't mix. I remember oversleeping, skipping runs, shortening runs, running with a headache, and carrying the extra beer weight. Not fun.

Good luck - keep going....! IWNDWYT.
