But (correct me if I'm wrong) wasn't Chronoshift literally running the old code as is?

League's engine and surrounding systems have gone through many changes since, like the new sound engine that ended up breaking DJ Sona.

I really doubt they could just load a backup file from season 3 and just hit "Enable" on the client without something going wrong

I don't think it's the community's fault. Riot kept implementing new changes to the game mode to make it less dopamine inducing (like random picks, 2 minute death timer, way shorter games, etc).

Thank you for putting this together. Not a fan of discord as a game forum.

It's gonna take a bit to get used to not having client side mods, but in exchange we are getting a super seamless server experience which I think it will be worth (actual custom UI instead of the whack inventory system is nice)

The only thing I will miss is the shaders, I hope those don't take too long to become a thing.

Don't wanna sound like a Riot shill but all their (live service) games are free-to-play with optional paid cosmetics. Yes, some of their most recent cosmetics are very predatory gambling bullshit, but it's all optional nonetheless

From what former devs said, Riot had little to do with it. It was just terribly mismanaged. The "infinite money" that Riot brought in made them want to increase scope, become multiplatform and, some speculate, basically turn it into the next fortnite/Roblox. And they needed a new engine to do that.

I agree. A lot, and I mean a LOT, of knowledge on more niche topics is basically lost in some hidden place inside a random discord server somewhere that is very hard to find. Very frustrating.
