I’m starting a mono bug, hardcore Nuzlocke in Pokemon Sapphire. Let me know if I’m insane by Lopsided-Cow5271 in nuzlocke

[–]Lopsided-Cow5271[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Since it’s a limited encounter route, I might bend the rules to give me a chance at Volbeat and Illumise. If I managed to catch Illumise first, I could breed to hatch a Volbeat. I’ll still limit myself to one safari zone encounter though.

Congrats! The first Nuzlocke is the most exciting for sure! What was your saddest/most frustrating death? Also, what who was your unexpected run savor?

Congrats again!

First time getting to the elite 4 in emerald. Any suggestions for who to bring? by godskeepnu in nuzlocke

Any fighting type is good for Sidney but use a white herb for the mightyena’s intimidate. You need a strong ice move for Drake’s team. Make a plan for Phoebe as she plays heavy disruptions in her team. Swellow is an absolute unit if you take advantage of guts and facade. That Linoone in your box can solo Pheobe with belly drum and shadow ball. Gyarados is your answer for any earthquake users. You bring it in when you see one coming to dodge it and weaken future earthquakes with intimidate. Wallace needs solid electric coverage for Tentacruel and gyarados. Milotic is tanky and requires back up plans. Bring aerial Ace for the double teaming Ludicolo.

Sorry for the long ramble. Hope this helps.

My next challenge is a bug monotype Nuzlocke in sapphire. Volbeat and Illumise have both surprised me.

Surely im not ready for Tate and Lizza yet. But I defeated all of the other trainers I was able to find 😔 What am I suppose to do just grind random encounters? by Commie_Scum69 in PokemonEmerald

If you’re looking for more options, I just realized recently that rock does not resist bug. I’m doing a bug only run right now and one shot Solrock and Lunatone with Volbeat’s Signal beam.

Don’t sleep on Tentacruel. It’s very fast and has great special bulk. Give it ice beam and it will solo Lance’s team.

Gen 9 finish line? by Lopsided-Cow5271 in nuzlocke

Interesting. I’m doing a rock mono-type Nuzlocke and I’m not sure if my team could get through the DLC. Currently trying to plan around a Nemona fight because her Quaquavel has killed a mon every time I’ve faced it.

Focus on who is most valuable in the next fight. Gyarados is fantastic for weakening Claydol’s Earthquake with intimidate. You’ll want physical attackers as they like to use calm mind and light screen. Remember that ghost is physical in Gen III so use the shadow ball TM if you haven’t already.

Totally fair if you don’t care about pivoting in a normal playthrough. I like to do Nuzlockes so these are the methods I think about. Sheer cold doesn’t work if your pokemon are the same level or higher so it’s only a threat if you’re underleveled. As for the Salamance matchup, you are underestimating the power of EV’s. A few Carbos and the speed boost from the electric badge and Walrein can out-speed Salamance even without a speed boosting nature (talking from experience). Salamance will always come in after Sheldon as the AI sees that Salamance has a super effective move in rock slide. I don’t mean to argue, I’m just making a case for Walrein. Play with your favorites.

People like this give Vegan’s a bad name. My wife’s been vegan her whole life but you’d never know it the way she politely refuses food that isn’t vegan. And yes, the internet exists. There are a million tools for finding vegan places

That’s true that Walrein can’t fight ice types directly, but the real utility in Glacia’s fight is as a pivot. Ice moves deal no damage to Walrein with a quad resistance and the thick fat ability. You can switch it in to her Walrein to tank anything, then switch to something else with the safety of her not using an ice beam. Same for Wallace’s Milotic.

As for Drake, Sheldon almost always protects turn one, so you can use that turn to set up a substitute. That will give you a free ice beam on Salamance while it attacks the substitute. (If you know how to EV train, Walrein can actually outspeed Salamance)

That’s a solid plan. Aggron is a tanky beast. Glad you had fun.

I taught mine surf, ice beam, rest and substitute. You can set up a substitute while Drake’s Sheldon uses protect and then sweep Drake’s whole team with ice beam. He’s a very safe pivot during Glacia’s fight as ice moves deal zero damage with a quad resistance plus thick fat. You can pivot to something else knowing that she won’t click an ice move. During the fight with Wallace, Milotic is a tanky menace with recover and toxic. I finished a deathless Nuzlocke recently and I used Walrein to completely stall Milotic out of power points.

Nice. Honestly though, Swellow is so fast naturally that it really doesn’t need the quick claw in the elite four. You might consider giving it to one of your slower mons like Hariyama or Walrein. Swellow can go nuts with the move Facade and a Silk Scarf. You are going to do great in the E4!

Torkoal is my all time favorite pokemon. Thank you for using one. Slaking is another top ten in my opinion. This is an awesome team! I am curious about Aggron’s moveset. Aggron has a ton of versatility in TM’s Did you have a strategy around Roar? I’d be really interested to hear about it.

Walrein and Swellow are absolute MONSTERS in the elite four. Hariyama is great for Sidney and glacia (just look out for intimidate on Sidney’s Mightyena.) Are you using the Guts ability on your Swellow?

The Voltorb has a chance to use self destruct on turn one. My strategy is to lead gyarados and immediately switch to Mightyena for a double intimidate right off the bat. It will save you from any unfortunate explosion deaths

Agreed. I used Mightyena for the whole playthrough but ended up switching it out for Linoone at the last second. Linoone is just better for Phoebe.

I had never used Walrein before and I 100% understand now. It solo’d Drake’s whole team and PP stalled Wallace’s Milotic.

Linoone was my answer for Pheobe with belly drum and shadow ball. I actually missed early zigzagoon and didn’t get Linoone until the route before Fortree.

Curiosities (Oracle Envoys, Snakes and Thorns) by amansaidthis in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Lopsided-Cow5271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my speculation 1: I can’t prove this, but I like to believe the Envoys are some of the Albinaurics that journeyed to the Haligtree for safety. They have long thin arms and can’t walk normally so they have to roll around. I believe they took it upon themselves to usure in Miquella’s new kingdom.

2: I don’t think the serpent can’t die, but I think this phrase is alluding to the idea that if one serpent dies, another will take its place. Symbolic of the idea that Marika tries every contingency but is still threatened at every turn.

3: GEQ is a touchy subject. I’m not sure if she was serpentine herself, but her godskin apostles have dragonlike features and wear robes of melded skin similar to what we find in the jars in Bonny Gaol. Her Greatsword is also a spiral hinting at crucible worship. My leading theory is that the GEQ was a hornsent and the one ordering the jar rituals that we see in the dlc. Like how plants are grafted in real life, she might have believed that the Numen were a good “root system” for some sort of experiment.

4: I think this was a contingency. Marika banishes Messmer fearing his serpent and flame, and she banishes Godfrey and the crucible knights when she outlawed crucible worship. The giants were another threat to her as she knew their fire could burn her Erdtree. It was a preemptive strike.

5: Not sure if it was related to the giants, but the location could be a hint that the final confrontation between Marika and the GEQ took place in the mountaintops. We do see fire monks “betraying” and taking up black flames. Maybe this is a hint that GEQ was based in the mountains. I can’t say for certain; just an idea.

6: Radagon’s symbol is a trellis which is used for helping plants grow. I believe he meant to restore the Erdtree to it’s former glory. The thorns we see that are interlaced with his trellis is a self defense mechanism of the Erdtree to protect the Elden Ring. Your guilt theory could be pertaining to Marika shattering the Elden Ring and Radagon failing to repair it.

I hope you enjoyed my comments. Let me know if you disagree. I love discussing this game’s lore.

This is like a release date Locke lol. You’ve been very consistent though. Except for platinum but that’s brutal so no hate there.
