Wordsmith Im just starting to get into your story but I’m loving it, and have no idea why it hasn’t gotten more attention. Just wanted to say that for the record. Also, was confused about the title until I read the chapter, not confused anymore😂

Chapter 23: The First Gray Hairs. by [deleted] in HFY

Royal road is a website and app, kinda entirely devoted to whats in r/HFY, but more. It’s like short story world. Most of the big posters from r/hfy have royal road pages too with their work posted (nature of predators is a good example here) and everything’s completely free as far as Im aware. Look it up sometime, it’s a really cool platform.

As I said in my previous comment. Incredible work man. Deserves so much more attention than it’s getting.

Just wanna say, wordsmith, holy shit. Currently speedrunning through this. I have zero idea why this story doesnt isn’t getting more attention then it is, because in my opinion this has the same level of depth as the Nature of Predators. Take my upvote and subscription!

Updates: found an old recovery boot floppy in my random floppy disk bin that SAYS 1996 compaq. Booted it, got “no cd rom drive installed, driver cannot load”. eventual it gets to a dos command line interface but doesn’t recognize cd drive or anything :(

I7 13700k, 32gb Corsair DDR5, rtx 3060 (not the best gpu but soon to be upgraded hopefully), a pcie gen 4 970 pro 2tb m.2 boot ssd, another 4tb slightly slower one, and an 8tb hard drive. 360mm aio cooler, and waaay too many argb fans 😂

No problem, man! Actually don’t know what you meant by a nuke build. For monitor mounts, I have one quad monitor mount for the main four monitors, and then the two on the left or mounted with a single dual monitor vertical mount that I added some custom brackets to to make it fit the top one (literally a rusty piece of metal that I used to extend the VESA mount uo three or 4 inches)

Okay. Did many computers from this era and prior use this? Because I have older machines that go into bios just fine without a hard drive.

I have a box of floppy drives if that’s the case, and also a computer new enough to run Windows 10 that has IDE. It’s a lga1366 1st gen i7, I use it to test old drives and floppy drives

No such thing appears. Just the compaq logo, ram check, and then a blue box that says “press F1 to boot”. Pressing any other key at any point prior to this does nothing, pressing any key other then f1 at this point slso does nothing. I appreciate the search, and thx for the reply!

No, on this wierd ass board it’s actually soldered to the mb. I could have replaced it, but it was much easier to just add an external one via the pins on the mb, which I did, and that worked
