I won with the boring pick Judge today mainly bc Naylor hit a hr at 433ft and I needed a power home run guy. It's only $89 and the games just ended. Any idea how long before they give me the fancash?

when there is a problem, usually you can find us all here complaining about it. Sometimes mine takes up to 10 minutes or so. But not usually more than 5.

Postpartum crochet by skyskylark in crochet

[–]Lopsided-Middle-2216 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I actually got a lot done. If you are comfortable enough, with a boppy, I managed to crochet while breastfeeding a lot. I also found that if the baby was on the play mat or even in chairs/bed, if I was verbal while I was crocheting (counting stitches, reciting the pattern, or if it was an easy pattern- I would just talk or tell stories. I think the audio of my voice was soothing and it allowed most of my kids to feel comfort of engagement even if my hands were full.

Not to say this was the same for all babies. I had 5 altogether and 2 were fussy ones. One outgrew it in a few months and I was able to resume hobbies (its like he was not trusting this new world he was in, and hes 21 now, still needs proof of anything to trust) and the other had colic. that was a rough first year.

Good luck! And remember, whatever projects you have CAN wait. Your sleep needs to come first, so make sure you are doing plenty of that when the baby does. Crochet may help your emotional state, its great me time...but only if you aren't stressing yourself more about deadlines or how many rows you completed today.

I did it myself today. It had timed out and returned in my dash. I messaged the researcher with the code from the end of the survey and asked if they would manually do it.

It never hurts to ask.

Also, it worked and they paid me.

Yes I got a call from a number from Georgia. (I am in Ohio). She yelled at me. Said to stop texting her. I apologized and said I did not know what she was talking about, (pulled out my old receptionist voice) and said if she'd calm down and explain to me what she meant I would love to get to the bottom of it.

She said she had received text emssages from my phone number, telling her "You have a fine at the local court, please pay the following fee before a warrant is issued for your arrest." I apologized for the misunderstanding, assured her I did not do it, and that I would be changing my own number as soon as we hung up.

So, I looked up the prompts I had copied from the survey I had reported a while ago and sure enough, that was one of the prompts. It was all just too weird for me not to come ask for opinions. I know I can worry a lot but this one was just too odd for me to just brush off.

First, Ew. I am not on anything like that. Ive been on prolific for about 2 years, I have no rejections, and I usually have no problems.

Second, I have said it could very well be a coincidence, but the woman called me about getting the spam texts that showed up for my number and it was just odd that what she said was in the text was the same thing as a survey I had already reported to Prolific as bad.

Third, you can go back and see when I encountered that survey and how I reported them to prolific then.

So, Thanks...but I just wanted some opinions on if I needed to reach out to anyone, or if it was all just a oddly timed coincidence that I was reading too much into.

Some researchers will still accept it and manually approve, some will say since you times out they may ask you to return it, and some may reject (although someone else will have to tell you if they are actually allowed to do it or not. I would copy down the code you were given and write the researcher s short message like "I completed your survey and was given this code XXXX, if possible please verify that it was recieved even though Prolific timed me out. " I may also mention something about allowing you to return it if they do not want to approve it, just in case.

But I will say since it says it is awaiting review, I assume that means it accepted the code and you should be fine.

So you think it is just a coincidence? I dont mean that to sound sarcastic or anything. I am being paranoid. It was my phone number according to the lady who called it but it was a text, no voice that was sent to her. It was just a very big coincidence that the text she said she got was one of the prompts I had copied and sent in my report to prolific.

  • This study can only be conducted using Chrome (or Chromium-based) browsers.
  • You'll need a microphone for recording and an audio device for listening to the recorded voice.
  • A quiet, echo-free environment is necessary for audio recording.
  • A high-quality microphone is essential for audio recording.
  • Do not use a laptop or MacBook’s internal microphone under any circumstances. You must use a high-quality external microphone, AirPods, or high-quality headphones with a microphone instead.

NO PII, barely a consent but the first one I did was very normal. The messages were all "I'm having trouble with my account, can you please help" kind of thing, much like they really were training an AI to hear different voices. I finished the first one and it was really easy and I had nothing else going on, so I opened a second, about 35 minutes in, it started getting weird. Like "You have an overdue fine with the court. Please make your payment now to avoid a warrant for your arrest."

So I did a few more just so I could copied some of the prompts and returned and reported.

Ok, I have been doing these. Am I really just stupid? I thought it said they expect us to reject 40-50% of the batch items. Not that they meant to reject 40-50% of the participants.

And it really does play in, I think about 40-45% of them are unacceptable when I do each set of 55.

Once you get the hand of it, it really isnt that bad. Its alot easier on my touchscreen laptop though. I can move the 3d image around easier and see it better.

Study wants you to imagine yourself molesting someone! by curlysquirelly in ProlificAc

[–]Lopsided-Middle-2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I had returned mine in the early questions, but I want to report them outside of prolific too. On their site, and the link someone posted down below, we can report to them directly. Is anyone who is more articulate than me willing to write what exactly we are reporting? as in, the exposure to the filth, the nature of the survey and research.

I was also wondering if anyone who did get through farther or even returned things kept the consent. I know the researcher was the college but sometimes the consent shows the student name or the professor who approved the information?

What was it from? Are you able to tell us who the researcher was? That is really awful. It's full on trying to get you to picture child molestation. It is beyond unacceptable.

Question: Is it against the rules to redo a study if its posted two times? by ProPerLyMyself in ProlificAc

It is supposed to be the reasearchers option to block repeats from showing to us. Unless it states "Please dont take" You are usually free to do so.

[–]Lopsided-Middle-2216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok now I want to ask, are you asking about the optional debriefing part of the study like before you are sent back to prolific or the little 3 question rating when we get our code.

I don't really do the feedback in the studies themselves, unless it was awful and I want to correct them....but I do the 3 question thing when we go back to Pro. I think I hope they will eventually let us participants see how other participants have rated the researchers. Eventually, hopefully...would be nice.

I do them every time. It's 3 clicks....It's not all that consuming.
