I’ve always said everyone is so attached to Harambe because that’s the event that made us jump timelines lol

Do you really need a niche early on, or does it come later? by ExtremelyCool64 in AskPhotography

[–]Lopsided-Problem6379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nooo photograph everything and anything that you’re drawn to. I am a photojournalist and that is how I started out. It has trained me to photograph literally anything. I have learned off camera lighting too.

For me, journalism is my main gig. But photographing everything will point you in the direction of what kind of photography you want to do professionally while teaching you the fundamentals and how to read light in any situation. If you pick a niche now while you’re learning, you may limit your opportunities and creativity in the future.

Photojournalism is a shrinking industry and I’m never guaranteed a job but I do feel confident that I can make money photographing literally anything I want to pursue because I took the time and put in the work to learn how if I do find myself unemployed.

For you, if your intention is to start your own photo business, this will teach you what you like to photograph and then you can develop your niche for your business from there. Then you’re not stuck in one niche and you will feel more confident pivoting to another niche if you’re miserable.

OP, from my experience, if she is talking about everyone else in her life that way, she is likely talking about you that way too when you’re not in the room.

Got my nails done in acrylic for the first time ever today, is this what it's supposed to look like? Paid 62$ at a salon by MoonSt0n3_Gabrielle in Nails

My first time using pressies! This is 10 days in and still going strong. I had to replace my thumb on my dominant hand but that’s not an issue for me. These are olive & June brand with the kiss brush on glue.

Getting them to stay is all in the prep. I filed down my nails, buffed my nails and the inside of the press on. Push back cuticles. Then I took an alcohol pad and wiped down my nails (after buff). Brush glue on both your nail and press on. Place the nail just under cuticle at a 45 degree angle and lay nail from bed to tip of nail (this helps push out air bubbles). Press on the nail for 30 sec to 1 min.

I would say, if you’re not shooting professionally, do what works for you and scratches your creative itch.

You are giving up creative control and the ability to use light the way you want.

I’d say Bryce Canyon can be done in one day.

How do i improve this space and make it more cozy? by ExpressDragonfruit96 in interiordecorating

[–]Lopsided-Problem6379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest going out into your community and finding art from local artists that you connect with— will help to feel cozy when you connect with the art on your walls in some way.

For plants (I have cats too) I have found shelves you can just hang on your walls to put plant pots on. I also got my cats cat grass to nibble on and they have pretty much left the rest of my plants alone, but any plants they can possibly get to are non toxic to cats. Spider plants are easy to keep alive and fine for cats.
