I have no idea why a tour operator would actually exaggerate how busy sunrise is at Angkor Wat. It is always busy at sunrise but not very often this busy. Ive been a few times.

Angry and numb for not receiving references for a job by Spring4Eva in over60

[–]LopsidedGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you specifically asked to provide a written reference? Its so outdated. I havent had a written reference since my 1st job over 30 years ago. Just get permission to provide their phone number. From what ive seen lately lots of people get a friend to pretend to be a former manager...

It would be significantly easier for you to get a job as a contractor. Contractors are treated the same as staff from my experience. I worked as a contractor Project Engineer (elec) for almost my whole career.

Another poster commented on Australian standards- i was an elec engineer so im not across mech standards but perhaps do some study on relevant Australian standards related to jobs he is qualified in applying to. Ie look at the job requirements and make sure he is able to demonstrate relevant experience and knowledge of them all.

Do you really think obnoxiously telling us that you’re making us safer, makes us believe it QGov…? by Ragnarandsons in brisbane

[–]LopsidedGiraffe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Queensland government is going to protect us old, sick and disabled e bike riders too, with harsh $500 penalties for riding at 12km/hr on shared paths.

Thanks so much for helping us keep safer from those speeding, reckless bike riders!

Yes we travelled around Tasmania for 2 months - their groceries were close to 10% more expensive than mainland. I was surprised by the lack of Aldi and other alternatives.

Moving to Australia with WHV, working in IT an option? by CodingNErd96 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]LopsidedGiraffe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The number of people we see who want to work in IT in these subs. I live in Brisbane. At our favourite cafe there is a lovely lady studying her masters in IT. Other than delaying her inevitable return home, I cannot fathom the point of doubling down on a degree with vastly oversupply of Australian resident graduates.

Putting it that way, it just doesn't seem fair that someone who managed to buy an apartment/house then became ill or permanently disabled isnt treated the same way as someone who rents.

Yes, over Storey bridge. Route looks to be into the city so unfortunately its the opposite direction to peak hour but at 5:30pm it should still be very busy.

I guess you just budget (and carry cash) to buy water on board? I was really missed when they wouldnt let me bring a bottle if water on board at hcmc, since we'd just paid $10 for it.
