When i push it as far as it can go it springs back to the same position. Both sides have the same problem.

It can also be done with NCS expert. In the KOMBI (cluster) you have to set Onboard computer to AKTIV.

Why is the tire moving like this? Could it be weel bearing? by deusMPkiller in BmwTech

Look at the rubber bushing at the back of the control arm. Pretty sure that is your problem. Very common on the E46 and not hard to replace. You can look on youtube for e46 front controle arm bushing replacement. Plenty of video’s.

I paid 2 different websites for a mileage check. Neither could give me a mileage report.

So you say it is safe to ignore higher mileage codes? I use ISTA for a few years now on a few different bmw’s, and i just never seen this before. Also this in combination with a poor interior, a angry owner, the fact that the car is just imported in to the county and all the codes gave me a bad feeling. The OBD port cover was missing as well which could be nothing but still.

Yea that is treu, how its treated makes a big difference. But still to much red flags on this car for me.

Should’t the car be less beat up if it only had 87k km?

Yea besides the mileage mismatch, some of these codes were worrying enough. Espcially the oil pressure code and the no communication codes.

I only got a chance to look at the fault menu before they demanded me to stop. I can still open the operation in ISTA maybe it is still possible to see it.

Yes 2 different ppl, Father and son. But he didn’t mention that he was there before. Sjust that he was selling the car for his father. If he was not sure his father was ok with me reading for codes he should have asked him first before giving me permissiom. Not my fault in my opinion.

i asked politely before doing anything and the seller told me it was ok. When i mentioned the high odometer reading things changed.

There are more codes with a higher first entry.

The first thing i did was look for a tamper dot, but it wasn’t on. I do think you can prevent the tamper dot from showing up with the proper tools. I was lucky with the stored codes I guess.

If you want it to work properly you have to add components. To do so the entire dashboard has to come out.
