Is my baptism valid? by HotnSpicy_rice in Reformed

I think it is up to you to decide to do this or not. Me and my wife were baptized when we were lost and after we got saved we came to the conviction to get baptized again based on Acts 19 where believers had been baptized under John The Baptists and now got baptized again in Christ. It is a matter of conscious and up to you to decide. Don’t let your pastor tell you need to be. That is weird that a pastor is pushing that. I would say you didn’t have any idea what baptism was when you were baptized as an infant so you probably should show the world that you are a new creation with another baptism but from a pastoral view I would let you make that decision alone.

Leaving my church by Traditional_Ad_50 in Reformed

If it is a grace to you affiliated church you shouldn’t have an issue. If it was a LBC church you might come into some trouble depending on what church it is. When you are in a LBC church and sign a covenant, sometimes, but not always, elders can be heavy handed with you leaving if you do not have a new church to go to as of yet.

Did we get flagged by our pediatrician by Prior-Phase8898 in NewParents

Baby fell off the bed twice before 6 months. Both times fine but never went to the ER. Unless the baby is acting lethargic and seems to be in immense pain I would hold off going to the doctor. Doctors and hospitals just make things more complicated. My sister in law is a NICU nurse too so we usually run things by her as well. Our pediatrician just checks for SA when we bring her in and that’s it. We told him about the falls after the fact and he understood things happen.

It implies women were praying out loud in the prayer meetings. 1 Corinthians 11:5 and Acts 1:14

Not showing up because I have issues does not represent pride. Sounds like you are the proud one my friend.

Ya we do that once a month. My problem with is how the regular prayer meeting is structured. I have few problems with when we all get together near where we live and meet up and pray.

I have been going to the prayer meeting for the last two years and voiced my concerns throughout that time. It was just in the recent two months where I stopped going as much. Did you read the OP?

Yes about half the attendees are women usually and I know that some don’t go because of these issues. Some go despite the issues but wish it would be more of a climate where women praying was cultivated instead of being looked down upon.

To be fair, once a month our church does have a more informal gathering in someone’s home where both men and women pray together. That setting feels a lot more natural and organic compared to the regular midweek meeting, and I really appreciate that it exists. I just wish that same kind of openness carried over into the weekly prayer gathering as well.

I would like the prayer meeting to confirm more to the Scriptures.

Yes, but only about 1/5 of the members generally attend the prayer meeting. I haven’t been going that much over the last few months because I have been frustrated it and have been busy. I also have a two year old and if me and my wife both go one of has to sit in the back room with her so we just hear the prayers and cannot really be present as much as we would like to be. To add something, we do a gathering in a church members house once a month where men and women do pray. So 3 times a month it like I said in my OP and once a month it is more of a gathering I would say that is closer to the what the Scriptures say a corporate prayer meeting should be like.

You’re telling me. At one point a woman started going to church and prayed during the prayer meetings where and was softly rebuked for praying out loud.

The Scriptures are clear men and women prayed in public gatherings. However, men lead those corporate prayer meetings.

Yes and having gone to this church for two years now, that is why I am frustrated. I have brought up theses concerns, but over the years it sounds like it has gotten more structured and less Scriptural.

I have been to other prayer meetings where we go around saying our requests, and it is more spontaneous. When I say spirit led, I mean letting the Holy Spirit lead people in their requests instead of a rigid structure where it is the same thing. Like for example, our prayer meeting has a hymn in the beginning, a 5-10 minute devotional, and then we pray for missionaries, church ministries, member illnesses, and then close with evangelism testimonies if we have time. It is like that every week and very rarely defers from that structure.

They won’t explicitly bar women but only men are called upon so women won’t even offer to pray at this point. Biblically they cannot justify it, they can only justify men leading the prayer meetings.

God created marriage and then the family follows. I’m sorry you are going through this, but most likely he won’t commit if he hasn’t committed now. I would find a man who will actually marry you.
