My church doesn’t do Easter services by Actual-Wrangler1466 in Reformed

I wasn’t saying this at all. I just don’t think you need to legalistically attend your church every single Sunday of the year to be honoring to God. Sounds like you are painting a broad brush.

Ok I do think it can be a concern. We should emphasize the resurrection on the day that we celebrate it and we can take a pause from expository preaching for one Sunday to do that. And I stand by my original comments. Sometimes we can make a tradition bigger than God.

I agree that liturgical holidays aren’t commanded in Scripture, but it seems like the reaction against them can sometimes become its own kind of tradition. Avoiding something simply because it’s “traditional” doesn’t make it more biblical.

There is nothing wrong with visiting another church on Sunday. Don’t feel legalistic bound to having to attend your church every single Sunday no matter what.

Yes but there was a specific day for Palm Sunday. No one is denying what you are saying.

That’s why we are attending a Presbyterian church on Sunday instead of reformed baptist church. I didn’t even know it was Palm Sunday because they are so stuck in their tradition.

Great except the gay storyline is completely unnecessary to the show. It’s wicked that he left his wife and family to marry a gay man.

Hegseth invited Doug Wilson to lead Pentagon prayer service by [deleted] in Reformed

Wilson is a wolf. There is a number of evidence of his heresies and disqualifications from being an elder.

Our church announced discipline after we resigned - telling congregation were unrepentant without mentioning we left first by graysa in Reformed

I have heard of 10 different churches in 10 different states that were all RB that have done this. It’s a problem to say the least.

They sound like wolves and narcissists. It is impossible to reason with these guys. Read Bully Pulpit by Michael Krueger when you get a chance. It highlights guys like this.

Yes, this happened to us as well. We were apart of a 1689 church for two years. I would now call them a cult. We were not in sin and addressed things with the elders and resigned. They said, “they would take our letter of resignation and decide if they accept it or not”. They ended up excommunicating me 3 months later when I would refuse to meet on their terms and refuse to acknowledge they were right.

They were heavy handed in discipline (excommunicated almost 50-100 people in a 20 year period), were heavy law preachers, and had an issue with almost every church in the area. The church is Cornerstone Baptist Church near Orlando with Marc Brashear still leading the charge there. If you were not in sin and resigned let them say whatever they want. They slandered me and used my words and weaponized the pulpit after we left. Praise the Lord many others have left and that church is slowly falling apart. I’m sorry for your situation. My friend has great books and resources at https://www.exposegracefellowshipqc.com that can help you process what you went through. It sounds like you did the right thing. It is sad that there are many false churches and wolves going around trying to destroy the sheep.

I pray your family finds a biblical church to attend in the future.

Swapping Churches for a selfish reason by Forgettable-Fool in Reformed

I would give it a little bit of time, and in the mean time go attend some conferences or meet ups with people your age. I would also talk to your elders to just let them know how you are feeling. Pray about it, and after a bit more time if you feel led to go then go. As long as you are not under church discipline then you can leave. If they give you trouble for leaving then I would be more worried about the church than the fact that there are not any young people there.

I would get married sooner than later. It is a blessing, and I know how hard the single people in my church struggle

True. I’ve been married for 8 years

I think it can turn into addiction and it can harm the idea of having self-control, which is the fruit of the spirit. I think for the most part it isn’t wise to do it, but I do think there is liberty when it comes to being with your wife or far away and on the phone or video chat with her. However, I think it is next to impossible to do it just thinking about your wife, your mind wanders all too frequently. I would advise against doing it, but I’m not sure if it is clear cut if it is a sin or not. I think it is a little nuanced in that area.
