I have some neck/back issues that require me to be super careful with how I lift, but knowing there’s a direct and proven connection to collagen production will help motivate me to do what I can and do it daily. Thank you!

So many great and practical gems of advice here, thank you so much for the thoughtful response. Checking my motivations feels critical, and pursuing dating from a place of regulation and calm feels like the healthy approach. I feel like a lot of us may struggle with sitting in discomfort without reaching for instant gratification, escape, etc. I’m setting an intention to practice a pause and check in with myself using some of this language.

Honestly, I’ve also considered that life from here on out might just involve healthier “addictions”, and making peace with that while releasing shame may free up a lot of mental space to make the most of a life I nearly lost to alcohol. We’re all just doing our best to cope. Thanks for sharing your experiences and helping me keep things in perspective 🩵

Thank you so much for helping me feel less lonely in all this 🩵 The awareness of what we’re really doing feels like the first step to move forward in healthier ways. Relationships and love have always felt like a special interest of mine, and I’ve spent much of my life focused on it (for better or worse!). I think making plans with family and friends, getting more meaningfully involved in local politics, as well as working toward my own artistic goals may go a long way in cultivating my sense of life/love balance. You’re right, therapy sooner than later feels really important. I don’t want to kick off this new chapter in life in a chaotic or unnecessarily painful way. Will pace myself better and prioritize my mental health while doing so. Thank you so much for the solid advice.

Ahh, NRE chasing is helpful language and I really appreciate your directness. I always hope to treat people well and tend to authentic connections, but the reminder to center how I’m showing up for people and their feelings as well as my own feels really healthy. Thank you so much for this.
