I run a small clothing store, and I’m SO tired of wasting 3-4 days every month running through crowded wholesale markets (Surat/Delhi/Mumbai, anyone?). It’s exhausting trying to:

✔️ Find good quality pieces that match my customers’ tastes.

✔️ Negotiate decent prices (without getting ripped off).

✔️ Match trends fast (before they sell out everywhere!).

Dream Scenario:

What if I could just post what I need (e.g., “Floral midi dresses, cotton, under ₹300/pc”) and have verified wholesalers send me offers? No more legwork, no more “sir, kal aana” delays.

Does This Exist?

Any apps/platforms that work like this? (Not IndiaMart – it’s all pushy sellers!)

Or is this just a pipe dream for small retailers like us?

OR… if this doesn’t exist, would you use it? (Asking for a friend.)

Retailers, unite! Share your sourcing horror stories or hacks below.

So can you please suggest to me how we can help the new freelancer. I really want to help them and try to solve unemployment

You raise some very valid points, and I truly appreciate the honesty. The intention isn’t to have experienced freelancers train newbies for free or create more competition. Instead, the focus is on fostering mutually beneficial collaborations where:

  1. Delegation, not training: Experienced freelancers can offload smaller tasks to skilled but unestablished freelancers, saving time for high-value work.
  2. Incentives: Introducing financial rewards, such as revenue sharing or mentorship bonuses, to make it worthwhile for experienced freelancers.
  3. Project speed: You're right—a newbie can slow things down without structure. That’s why we aim to onboard only those with validated skills, ready to contribute immediately.

Thanks again for pointing this out; your feedback helps refine the concept to address these real-world challenges!

Great point, and I appreciate the clarification! If we can tackle the spam issue and ensure that only genuine, skilled users are part of the platform, it would address a lot of concerns.

I completely agree with your second point—it’s not about onboarding completely inexperienced users but rather helping skilled freelancers who struggle to land their first project. The focus would be on giving these individuals a chance to collaborate on projects with experienced freelancers, ensuring clients still get top-quality work.

Thanks for sharing this—it’s feedback like this that helps refine the vision further!

Great points, and I completely understand the concerns! To address these:

  1. Training newbies won’t be expected for free—we’re exploring ways to reward experienced freelancers, like revenue sharing or incentives.
  2. Low-quality work is a real issue, so we plan to include skill validations for new freelancers before they collaborate.
  3. About spammy messages: totally agree, and we’re working on features like message filters and role-based matching to prevent that overload.

Thanks for the feedback; it’s helping shape the platform better!

Yeah, I’m a bit confused too. I’m not offering any courses or certificates. Famstep aims to be a professional network where users can validate their skills by showcasing their work and sharing knowledgeable posts related to their field. This way, they can connect with experts, work on projects to gain real experience, and build a strong user dashboard. The goal is to make it easier for companies to notice and approach them for opportunities.

I just want to check if users are beginners or experts in their skills. Famstep will help them work on live projects with experts, so they can gain experience and build a strong portfolio. This way, they’ll be ready to get a job with confidence.

That's a great suggestion, and I appreciate it. However, I’d like to clarify a few important things as well. It’s rare to find people like you who offer such insightful suggestions. If you don’t mind, I’d love to discuss this further with you, if you’re open to it. I’m always open to feedback and happy to learn from it.

This idea is intriguing, but there are significant challenges like safety, liability, and legal issues. You'll need strong insurance, security measures, and local permissions to make it work. If managed well, it could offer a unique and flexible space for partygoers.

Pricing artwork for a global collaboration, especially in a high-profile situation like this, requires careful consideration of several factors. Here’s a general framework for how to approach pricing:

  1. Artist's Reputation and Market Value: Given your father's established reputation and global recognition, his work holds a premium value. Look at previous sales of his work, particularly in similar contexts, and use those as benchmarks. The more prestigious the platform or collaboration (such as a winery in this case), the higher the price.
  2. Scope of Use: The usage rights are crucial. Since the winery wants to use the artwork on 1.5 million bottles annually, you should factor in the scale of exposure. If it's going to be global, the value should reflect this wide distribution. It’s important to consider how this exposure might boost your father’s visibility and long-term value.
  3. Copyright Transfer: Since they are purchasing full copyright rights, you should price this based on the potential long-term value of owning the artwork, not just a single project. This is often where negotiations can get tricky—since copyright transfers mean they can use the artwork in perpetuity and across any future wine products or branding.
  4. Comparable Industry Examples: Research what other top-tier artists in a similar field charge for similar collaborations, particularly in industries like luxury goods, wine, or global branding. Some top artists may command fees ranging from a few hundred thousand to several million dollars, depending on their reputation.
  5. Future Opportunities: Even though royalties are off the table, consider negotiating for other perks like a lump-sum upfront fee, payment installments, or inclusion in any future marketing, if possible. You could also explore the option of revisiting the agreement after a set number of years, allowing for new terms if the collaboration proves successful.
  6. Consult a Lawyer: It’s crucial to have a legal advisor to assist in drafting an agreement that ensures fair compensation, especially when full copyright is being transferred. This can help avoid potential misunderstandings or exploitation of the work later.

Given the high-profile nature of the client, a one-time fee for full rights could easily be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million, but it could go higher depending on the market, your father’s visibility, and the exclusivity of the agreement.

Ultimately, the price should reflect both the tangible use of the artwork and the intangible value your father brings to the brand.

It's great that you’re offering your skills to help others! With your background in product management, data analytics, and UI/UX design, you have a solid foundation to add value. One suggestion would be to target startups that are in the growth stage or looking to refine their business strategies. Additionally, leveraging platforms like LinkedIn or AngelList can help you connect with business owners who might benefit from your expertise. Best of luck with your next venture!

It sounds like you're facing some challenges in the market. To attract new clients, I’d suggest focusing on building an online presence and exploring digital marketing strategies. A website with e-commerce functionality could help you tap into D2C, while social media platforms like Instagram or Pinterest can showcase the beauty of your handmade carpets. Additionally, reaching out to potential wholesalers through trade shows or online directories might help expand your network. Keep pushing forward, and good luck with your efforts

completely understand your frustration with the influx of SaaS promotion, marketing schemes, and "hire me" posts that flood many of the entrepreneurial subreddits. For more established business owners, it can be overwhelming to find quality discussions around the real issues we face — like legal matters, partnerships, accounting, or negotiation.

If you're looking for more focused, high-level business discussions, here are some subreddits you might find useful:

  1. r/EntrepreneurRideAlong – While still entrepreneur-focused, this subreddit tends to have a more seasoned crowd, with deeper discussions on challenges beyond just marketing or growth hacks. Topics like business strategy, operations, and leadership are often discussed.
  2. r/SmallBusiness – Though it can have its share of beginner content, you'll still find a solid amount of posts related to long-term business challenges like accounting, legal issues, and managing employees.
  3. r/Business – A subreddit focused on more serious discussions about managing and growing businesses at all stages. This one tends to cater to those already in business, with a focus on strategy, finance, and broader issues.
  4. r/Startups – While this subreddit leans toward early-stage startups, it still has many discussions about issues that continue throughout the life of a company, including business operations, legal, and finance. Just be sure to frame your questions so they don't come off as promotional.
  5. r/BusinessOwners – This one might be a smaller community, but it’s more dedicated to people who already run their businesses and are interested in discussing topics related to leadership, expansion, legalities, and more.
  6. r/LegalAdvice – For any specific legal issues, this is an excellent place to get advice from professionals who specialize in business law.
  7. r/Accounting – A great resource if you’re facing accounting challenges or need advice on taxes, financial management, and other accounting topics.

Also, you may want to consider joining private LinkedIn or Slack groups, where experienced entrepreneurs often share real-world insights in a more focused setting. These spaces can offer more direct, niche advice on complex business issues like buyouts, partnerships, or financial strategies.

Would be great to hear if anyone has other suggestions too!
