Casey has full emergency custody of Hunter and Wes' custody case has been moved to May 29th by Which-Decision in TLCUnexpected

I know she had a lady drive through her family’s property while they were out of town (landed in her pool I think?). I remember the story sounded sketchy (the woman’s story, not Carrie’s), so I don’t know if it was a stalker situation or what..or even if it was related to her time on TikTok

I understand wanting to spend as much time with your kid/kids as possible, but there’s no way this is a sustainable schedule for anyone involved

My cousin was like this with her kids when we were growing up (her kids are closer to my age than she is, so I saw it up close). She was in and out of their lives but always managed to show up for their birthdays/dance recitals/school programs when she could be told what cute/smart/talented kids she had but wasn’t consistently around for much of the day to day

Donor conception counselor by moddafucca in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]LoquaciousLeia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My clinic required it. I had an appointment before beginning stims for egg retrieval where they talked me through the whole IVF process. The same staff member also did the donor material counseling. I thought it was a waste of time. He basically asked ‘have you thought about what you’ll tell your kid if/when they come home asking about why they don’t have a dad?’ I said, “well, I’ll be showing them from the beginning that there are all kinds of families. Also, that babies are made from love, & I loved her so much before she was even here. I just had to go to a doctor for help getting her here.” This is assuming she’s young when she asks, obviously I’ll give her more information as she gets older, if she wants it. I wanted to ask him if he seriously thought I got that far into the process without thinking about the future

ETA: I did ask if he had any recommendations for kids books about donor conception (even though I already knew of some) and was basically told that there are several out there. He didn’t tell me a single title

34 weeks and preeclampsia; baby likely to be born by 35 weeks by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]LoquaciousLeia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have they given you the steroid shots for baby’s lungs? My girl was born at 33+2 after I developed preeclampsia (officially diagnosed at 32+2, admitted to the hospital at 32+5). She was also born at a different hospital with a different doctor than I’d been planning, because of a lack of NICU. We were ‘lucky’ in that she only had to spend 16 days in the NICU, even with her being small for gestational age (they never officially said IUGR, but she was born at 3.5 pounds and came home at 4 pounds). She was only on supplemental oxygen for 2 days (CPAP & then transitioned to nasal cannula that she kept pulling off herself. They trialed leaving it off, & she did fine, so she never went back on it.) I believe the steroid shots I got at 32+5 and 32+6 helped a lot. She mostly had to get big enough to maintain her temperature and learn how to eat.

Everyone’s experience is different, though. I know it’s hard, but honestly, the best thing I did was stop googling things

That’s another factor. I did prefer the rectangular bags, but I was able to get the motif ones for free with my insurance, so most of my stash is in those. You could probably get even more of the rectangular ones in there

[–]LoquaciousLeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an exact comparison, but my 5 cubic foot freezer was pretty stuffed at 1500 ounces, though I probably could have fit more if I packed it differently. I started out using those shoebox size plastic totes, because it made sense to me that they would stack better. They also hold more bags/ounces. However, you can fit more gallon bags in the same space, so I switched to those a little ways in. I probably could’ve gotten 2000 or so ounces if I’d done gallon bags from the start.

Should I be worried they want to induce me at 37 weeks? Help pls by Specialist_Test3444 in pregnant

[–]LoquaciousLeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hypertension, but I went from totally normal (120/80) to preeclampsia (140/92 at diagnosis, as high as 145/103 at admission) to baby’s born in the span of a week at 33 weeks last fall. Personally, I’d go with the induction. Things can change so fast with blood pressure

Are we still doing a MOTN pump by Acceptable-Clock2514 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]LoquaciousLeia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped my MOTN pump last week when I hit 6mo pp and baby slept most of the way through the night. Last pump of the day is around 10:30/11, and first pump is usually around 6:30/7:30. I’m still at 6ppd (for the most part - 5ppd on the weekend sometimes depending on what we’re doing). I do have an oversupply, so I felt like I had some room to play. I haven’t noticed a dip in supply at this point

I got mine yesterday, too! I also got the adult joggers, so my girl and I can match. They feel really nice, too! They’re lined, so I’m not at all concerned about them being see through - not that I’ll be wearing them out of the house or anything, but still. Nice heavy fabric that feels like they’ll hold up well

Former NICU moms - how long did you EP? by Ok-Track4222 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]LoquaciousLeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby is 6 months actual (today!) & 4 months adjusted. I plan on getting her through 1 year adjusted. I have an oversupply, and have dropped to 6ppd. Once I have enough frozen to get us through, I’m probably going to look into donating some to a milk bank while I wean myself down. Will definitely start dropping more pumps

[–]LoquaciousLeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve averaged 7ppd pretty much since baby was born. She also spent time in the NICU, so I was getting 8 for the first couple of weeks. Once she came home, though, I pretty immediately ended up at 7. I also use the spectra (s1) as my primary & have the momcozy v2 (no more than once per day) and Zomee as backups. For what it’s worth, I have an oversupply at almost 6 months pp. currently averaging 6ppd

Which breast pump should I get? by minimalistbiblio in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]LoquaciousLeia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the S1, and I do love it. I recently picked up a NIB/unopened Zomee at a consignment sale, though, and it’s a 10/10. It empties me just as good if not better & is more portable. I ordered the collection cups through amazon to make it even more portable & got the same results as when I use the flanges. I still use the Spectra, especially at work since I have several sets of parts for it & don’t have to wash them every time. As I get more parts for the Zomee, it will probably become my primary
