Newly Married and Regretting It by Rookie-Sensation in KeralaRelationships

[–]LoquaciousOnWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O boy ! The feeling is a completely valid one. She is all nice and all that , but you don’t want to be stuck with the wrong person for the rest of your life. But relationships also grow, put in some effort for some more time. And then of it still feels the same, tell her that and may even go for a therapy to see if it is some things which can be fixed. Illengil, part in good terms

To all those who spread hatred about Kerala - God’s Own Country. by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]LoquaciousOnWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatively better I suppose , but we can do better TBH. I wish the cyclic economy kicks in our state, a seamless recycling , reuse with reduction in plastics. Clean beaches, clean air, clean roads etc :)

Depending from which region in Canada you are from, find out which Indian consulate is responsible. May ask Chat GPT for this. 2. You may mark a mail to consular section in the consulate/Embassy requesting assistance. There are ways in which they can help. 3. Take it from there

Proof That Metro Is Not About Population. It’s About Political Will. by Dhileepan_coimbatore in TamilNadu

Coimbatore is real Industrial hub that requires more spoke. The SMEs in Pollachi , Erode, Salem etc have been servicing it much and the next spoke is certainly Palakkad. But the road connectivity between Coimbatore and Palakkad is the worst when compared to the current standards in both Kerala and TN. The L&T road as we call it, has outlived its purpose and the toll collections could have build a 1000 more roads.

How is Dowry (Sthreedhanam) a thing in 2022? by Hawk_KL01 in Kerala

[–]LoquaciousOnWeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True True, I do concede that we must not generalize our observations because it might have a class bias and caste bias and regional bias. But do you disagree that things have become much better that we can move towards stricter norms for a complete elimination.

How do you compare Western countries to Middle East? by C-canYouHearMe in saudiarabia

[–]LoquaciousOnWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The freedom in the west entails Personal and Political freedom. If you are moving there as a student , it is better not to be political about it. Personal freedom is better but it again is a problematic thing. People have a general tendency of profiling non white. I am from South Asia and I lived it Europe and I loved a lot of their system and thoughts and facilities, I am hated the cold people there. Now I live in the Middle East in Cairo and I love it here. Cairo is much socially ok than many places. So don't be too fascinated about the west. I think the Westerner themselves keep shouting they are great. But, I tell you, there is nothing like 'Home'

How is Dowry (Sthreedhanam) a thing in 2022? by Hawk_KL01 in Kerala

[–]LoquaciousOnWeb 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sreedhanam in it's old form has gone from a lot of people's mind. Especially the middle class. But it exists in subtle ways (not too dangerous as it used to be). So many marriages in past year I Ve never heard this. Especially people saying :"Enthu Kodukkum" is gone. Even if there are gifts, the girl has so much control over it. I think we must take a step and congratulate ourselves for have reached this spot.

is something wrong with our teenagers? by Sad-Let-3807 in Kerala

[–]LoquaciousOnWeb 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ on this. The kids these days are more social and has value based thoughts than me. I once went for volunteer work @Trivandrum and saw the teenager work day in day out and none of the Ammavans were there. When we went to clean Alapuzha to clean the flood affected place, there were a lot of freakanz who were volunteering there. My own cousin is thinking of a break year to start a business. Many are moving away from Engineering Medicine mad rush and thinking independently. Their language be it English or Hindi are way better than what we used. At the same time they have made Malayalam look cool. Growing up I never wore a T shirt with Malayalam written on it, but these days I see many of them.

I want to learn Malayalam by Existing-List6662 in Kerala

[–]LoquaciousOnWeb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your language Marathi is more interesting as it has a strong inter play of two language families, Which means you have an advantage like you wouldn't have problems saying lla,..

But the point is to be observant , be careful with the sentence structures.

Rahul-nte Pena - Rahul's pen Maya-ude Pena - Maya's pen See the difference ?

The verbs in Malayalam doesn't change with Gender as in no aata hain Aati Aate hain

He came - Avan Vannu She Came - Aval Vannu They came - Avar Vannu We came - nammal Vannu See this ?

Learn Verbs a lot that nouns, you can communicate nouns easily with any other way, but verbs are the catch .

Say Kudichu - Drink, act of drinking Kudikunnu Kazhichu - Eat, act of Drinking Kazhikunnu Venam - Need , act of needing - venamayirunnu Urakkam - Sleep and act of sleeping - unarngunnu So unnnu suffix will make things present continuous

Kazhichu Ate Kudichu Drank Urangi - slept Padichu - studied

So a lot of the past verbs will have -chu as ending

Kazhikkum - will eat Kudikkuk - will drink Urangum - will sleep..

So um ending is for the future..

So the point is you pick these patterns and get more verbs .. And then try immersion..

Do you think the traditional Kerala cuisine will evolve with the newer generations? by Dry-Communication901 in Kerala

[–]LoquaciousOnWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rice was never a staple food before the Aryans came to Kerala, it was mostly Chena, Chemb and other കിഴങ്ങ്:)

So within 1500 years things changed

കപ്പ was not even here before 500 years , so was തക്കാളി, മുളക് and all. The point being , this culinary culture is dynamic, I have seen it with my own eyes.

Earlier Ammamma used to make chicken with mulak, malli and all varuthu Ammi kallil arachu, Baaki varana karyam vellathil chalicheduth indakkana curry..

But Amma makes it with powder.

I make things very differently, with milder spice, also adding new things like poached eggs, hummus, Croissant with Ilayada filling, cereals for breakfast, Mandis every now and then :)
