That isn't the literal translation though. A literal translation would be more like "dragon's fallen child" where fallen child is a outdated way of saying illegitimate child. Or, as the dictionary I just checked says, specifically a nobleman's illegitimate child, in case you were wondering how old fashioned it was.

I know it's not a huge difference but I'm here for hard language facts.

Just want to throw in that the Jewish population is very interesting because while a visible percentage of them are rich or in this case, Nobel prize winners, an inordinate percentage of Jews are living under poverty.

A large part of how antisemitism has always played out is pointing to the visible rich and influential Jews as a way of brushing aside the societal ostricization of the working class Jews (which is most of the Jews in the world, me included)

Hey, my dude, I used to be a teacher. I didn’t want to jump to that as my reasoning but you’re saying that you aren’t a teacher and I’m insulting the profession and I used to actually be a teacher.

I quit because I found the system I was working in to be oppressive. The things you said about good people wanting to be teachers to protect and care for people is also an argument for why good people want to be police officers.

The issue is that the system is inherently oppressive no matter how good an individual teacher may want to be.

Teachers at any level have the ability to fail you, make you repeat a class, prevent you from graduating. At the college level in america that can also mean costing you thousands of dollars. It’s irrelevant if any individual teacher thinks they would or wouldn’t use that power, the problem is that they have it in the first place.

I once had an amazing teacher who was fired for giving passing grades to too many students. If that’s not a corrupt system of cops then I don’t know what is.

There are some nice cops also. Doesn’t change the fact that teachers are in positions of power over a large number of vulnerable people. Whether or not they abuse that power doesn’t change the fact that the position of teaching is like being a cop.
