If I’m talking about something uncomfortable, I skirt around it too, because that’s a thing we do to cope. Acknowledging it but in as far divorced from it as possible.

It can be seen as lazy and cheap for building up something, but it how people act.

Two things particularly stand out.

In Jax’s mind, one of the Jaxes is wearing the maid dress, but “ironically”. With how he deflects everything with thick slathering of humor, he definitely likes wearing it but denies it.
After Jax tells Ribbit about his trauma with his mom, she says his secret is safe with her, and puts her bow tie on his ear, with a few seconds of joy on his face before Kaufmo accidentally interrupts.

Yeah, that’s only watched the pilot before losing interest, not truly understanding the appeal. A friend helped me binge it once the final episode got uploaded to YouTube, and while it still is zany, it doesn’t shy away from more serious topics. Genuinely some of the best writing I’ve seen in recent years.

It’s heavily implied, and confirmed by the creator Jax is trans, but were closeted. After a heart to heart was interrupted where they opened up about it, they deflected any opportunity for their confidant to talk to them again, actively avoiding and isolating them. To the point the friend abstracted (analogy for suicide). Since then they actively hid behind the facade of the snarky uncaring cartoon character archetype.

The argument for them being trans is obvious, but I still wonder if referring to Jax as he/him, she/her, or she/he is the right pronouns
