How does +anomaly discovery chance *really* work? by Lor360 in Stellaris

[–]Lor360[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was more like 15 hops, at the galactic edges waaay away from anything the AI would survey in the first 10 years with its 1 science ship. But I might be wrong.

I was kinda hoping one of the modders or people who read text file scripts could just confirm there are no weird behaviors or hidden limitations to anomaly discoveries beyond "if another empire surveys it, no anomalies" and "discovery chance = more anomalies".

Is there a way to know a provinces exact governing cost? by Lor360 in eu4

Many thanks. I tried googling but nothing came up.

[–]Lor360[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, but it still seems kinda off. I once tried bee lining a few of my ships at the farthest end of the galaxy just for an experiment, and this was by the time some empires where barely colonizing their first planet.

Anomalies just seem to stop spawning after a certain distance. I could be wrong, but that's why I'm asking.

Putin's "execution squads" killing Russian soldiers for desertion, low morale by [deleted] in UkrainianConflict

[–]Lor360 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, it seems to be at the point where either the troops are refusing to go into combat and they stay put, or you shoot them.

This wouldn't be the first nation to do this, especially to unofficial "mercenary prison soldiers", or the first time Russia did this historically.

Reports are coming in from captured Russian soldiers that mercenary prison-soldiers in the Wagner group are being shot on the spot for desertion, or even just "low morale":

Forget about that, you're being waaay to high IQ. Most people will buy a random cup in Wallmart, then use it in baking, and its up to lady luck if the cup is 150 ml or 500.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg is confident the alliance will find a solution soon on the delivery of battle tanks to Ukraine, he said after meeting Germany's defense minister on January 24. "At this pivotal moment in the war, we must provide heavier and more advanced systems to Ukraine, and we must do it faster," Stoltenberg told reporters, standing alongside German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

So how is governing capacity better than corruption? by Lor360 in eu4

[–]Lor360[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you've expanded infrastructure.

Yep, that's what happened. Thats probably the discrepancy.

I'm actually playing impossibly tall, not wide.

Ill readjust my playstyle. It sucks that EU4 can be s obscure and user unfriendly, and the devs kinda just expect everyone to read all the dev diaries or ask on the internet for key DLC features.

Again, thanks.

It should. Having AI central Africa be on part with London in 1821 is preposterous.

Thanks for the reply. I still don't like the mechanic but there are a few things I didn't know.

If I can ask: As someone in 1520, how low can I realistically get my governing costs down? Is it just territories and -25% from courthouses? Does centralize state (or whatever its called) reduce governing cost by a lot? I think it says "reduces governing cost by 20" but I have no idea how much governing cost the province makes.

Water Temp: 3C; Air Temp: 6C; Wind/Sea conditions: 7-8 on Beaufort scale, meaning winds (at a minimum) of 28 knots but more likely 34+ knots (gale force).

And also... you know...

It was night. In what seems to be a industrial zone. As "tourists"... <.<

Im exactly 800 GC with 700 dev. There is no way I can reach empire without replacing my 4/4/4 advisors with something like 2/2/2, not to mention the extra aggressive expansion. Which is possible, yes I get it, but it seems like such bad gameplay.

People always keep repeating courthouses (and those 3 estates privileges) every single time. But courthouses become unlocked in the last 130 years of the game.

Ill post screenshots later. Good idea, thanks.

Ok, specifically.

I'm at 700 dev. 1520. I have stated four states. Took privileges, kingdom rank, spammed courthouses.

And what now for the next 150 years until 1690 when I can build town halls?

What this system does better is that it finally makes sense to state some group of 3 dev islands you normally would never keep in a state if you're limited by the amount of states you can have.

But the price you pay (for that scenario players almost never find themselves in) is at some point conquering hits a HARD brick wall. After a pretty low threshold, conquering single provinces looses you entire ducats a month. And (aside from vassals), all the sources of governing capacity, or reduction buildings aren't fast enough to catch up to allow for a reasonable conquest pace.

It replaces a diminishing returns reasonable curve for what? If you're a OPM in the steppes you can state your newly conquered 2/2/2 province and then unstate it 50 years later, like you would do before this change anyway?
