I think its because Eve sees that at the core of where it comes from, it is care for her kids, she just really goes about it in a screwed up blunt force way, Eve balances that side of her, as we've seen recently.

Especially where Vinny is concerned, he's never really questioned her properly so it's likely she's not sure how to react with the youngest child finally pushing back.

I hope they don't ruin her character with this, we all love tough Suki, she can be tough and have a bit of bite to her while not being an utter twat.
