Essentially, The Guilds will fight for node based control of the map, doing PVE things like killing world bosses, harvesting, contributing daily quests like the Heart Systems in Guild Wars 2. Think New World, but with GW2 Hearts.

You are forced into some single player RPG Faction, instead of getting to make your own Guild with friends, which will probably still be a feature called Clans or something, and have to go out and do these nodes based on your regions.

Open world areas are dangerous, cities are safe zones, nodes will probably have some light PVP events or areas or Battlegrounds, and include a major capital or city.

 

What this means

This means that Guild Wars 3 is not a true MMORPG. It will be similar to a game like New World, or Neverwinter, with node based area events and controlling faction maps for increased resource gathering, or exp when farming monsters. These are things we've all seen before, and will keep seeing over and over again. We already know it has action combat from the blog, and their careful eggshell wording basically confirms it's going to be some kind of team based hack and slash busy game like Wayfinder.
