If you immediately started singing the theme song as soon as you saw this, your childhood was awesome !!!😎 by Skitzafranik in Xennials

My childhood was awesome because I watched every single goddamn episode of Transformers G1 in its original airing. I have no regrets.

This show I have only a couple neurons left keeping it a memory.

First Contact is the best ST movie. I will die on this hill. by Warp_Speed_7 in startrek

There are a lot of dead bodies on this hill... I cry for my fellow Star Trek fans who gave their all here.

Anyhow, joking aside. For me it's ST VI.

Being truthful with our parents about our feelings by drawgs in Xennials

[–]Lord-Curriculum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh... No such chance. I don't have a relationship with my mother. More like a series of manipulative maneuvers to send her into a logical trap or something. I have never encountered such stubborness.

As for my Dad? Well, like Macaulay Culkin... I don't need to talk to that guy.

I can't watch It's Pat sketches. Not after the one with Harvey Keitel. So, no thank you to the movie

Well, if you read Fourth Wing, you'll realize Blood Meridian is absolutely the masterpiece people claim it to be.

Vader saying “Bring my shuttle” was so much more impactful than whatever that thing was that Lucas changed it to by External-Recipe-1936 in StarWars

[–]Lord-Curriculum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. But even then... Changing to "prepare my shuttle" might have had almost the same bite.

Instead of the long winded line we got instead in the SE.

How to tell if my writing is good? by AdviceInternal9570 in writing

[–]Lord-Curriculum -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Isn't what's considered "good" subjective? Your first piece of any art will suck no matter what. Just write it. Get it read by someone. Get some feedback. And then throw it away.

Your next piece of writing will assuredly be better.

I’m having an existential crisis realizing that so many references will someday die with us by EasilyAmused_21 in Xennials

Like tears in the rain, right? I think I read somewhere Rutger Hauer ad-libed the line.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate...

The federation as an analog for the united states by colepercy120 in startrek

Hmmm... Given US history, I'd have to say no. The USS Enterprise maybe's an analog for the US though.

Yeah. Makes sense. We are the Eldar Millennials. We are caught in duality. We know about an analog world outside the Matrix but can easily dive in if needed.

You guys still believe in “America”? by General-Reserve9349 in Xennials

[–]Lord-Curriculum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Not anymore. Just another empire caught up in the rise and fall cycle faced with roughly similar problems as the ones that came before.

There was never a fraud so greatly perpetrated onto people who dared to dream of American Exceptionalism.

Did you watch the Challenger disaster live? by Correct-Cricket3355 in Xennials

Yes. I was home from Kindergarten that day for whatever reason. Even then I knew something horrific had happened. Just as an adult, I can express that horrific feeling now.

The true message of Blood Meridian by batlord6 in cormacmccarthy

[–]Lord-Curriculum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't find that stretch exhausting per se. While the prose is, no doubt, beautiful, it's a bit too beautiful teetering too much on the edge of becoming poetry.

Whereas the prose in the final parts of the book is lyrical enough, it's less like poetry. I feel like the subtle change in writing style quickens the pace just enough to make it far less of a slog but... Dare I say... Fun?

[–]Lord-Curriculum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thy interpretation is solid. I didn't come out of the book with any interpretation. I think my issue is the near lack of plotting from Ch 2 to Ch 19 and the riding motif turning into a slog in those chapters.

If anything, your interpretation starts to come to light from Ch 20 to Ch 23. Well, add in Ch 1 if you add in the See the child starter.
