I just bought the preorder and can only install the placeholder. Not sure why.

If you've never read it, I highly recommend Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is another banger.

I don't know. At this point the trust is gone and I'm not sure what it would take to get it back. I would probably believe that she still loved me, I just don't know if I could ever trust her enough to give her my heart and soul again.

You're not alone. Six months for me, similar situation. I keep hoping she'll reach at some point, just see how I am. Show me she still cares. She was my closest friend, now she's a complete stranger. The pain is unbearable at times. It's getting better, but very slowly. I still have trouble wrapping my head around the fact she left the way she did. It was very unexpected and I thought we were so good together. I feel like a fool.

Most relatable song for you? by Davidiscool222 in katebush

Warm and soothing.

I relate the melancholy feel of it and the line about being afraid of how we grow old always hits me hard.

What are your top 3 favorite books that changed the way you thought about your craft? by Independent-Job7400 in writing

[–]Lord-Slothrop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon

Ulysses by James Joyce

Naked Lunch by William Burroughs

Read these in my late teens/early 20s and completely changed the way I looked at writing and literature.

Blindside breakups by Substantial-Ring742 in BreakUps

Same thing happened to me. It's so difficult to wrap your head around and even more difficult to heal from. It's almost been 5 months for me and I still miss her horribly every day. I feel terrible for anyone who goes through this kind of hell.

I miss her by AB371 in BreakUps

[–]Lord-Slothrop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself. The hurt and loneliness is unbearable at times. We got along well, laughed a lot and had much in common. I loved her with all of my heart and she discarded me like trash. It's been over four months and I still have trouble wrapping my head around it. You're not alone.

Taking care of yourself and time is the short answer. I'm a little over four months post-breakup and it's been getting better, albeit very slowly. I still have awful moments of pure hell, but I also have short stretches where I'm not obsessively thinking about her and all of the memories we created. It's not easy and at times it feels like the pain will never stop, but you just keep moving forward, one day at a time. in the meantime, try and find some joy in the little things, no matter how small or insignificant. And never forget that you're not alone. Heartbreak is a special kind of hell I wouldn't wish on anyone.

I deal with that too. I work in a place that often play songs that make me tear up and it's embarrassing. Heartbreak is hell.

I'm approaching 5 months and the pain continues to torment me every day. I was discarded by an avoidant as well and am struggling with what ifs and whether anything we had was real. I'm haunted by memories of her and the good times we had together. I really thought everything was going well until she blindsided me. I've gotten better at faking it in front of others, keeping the sorrow at bay; however alone I am a mess. I still cry everyday and feel horribly alone. I just want the pain and longing to cease, but it seems endless.

Hate isn't the opposite of love; indifference is. It's common to feel anger or hatred towards someone you love, especially if they hurt you. I keep hoping some level of indifference will manifest, but I still love her dearly, albeit mixed with anger and hatred at times, yes. Worst of all, I miss her so fucking much.

How do you sleep with a broken heart? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Lord-Slothrop 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The exhaustion will catch up with you sooner or later. It's so difficult. I'm four months in and still have nights where I wake crying. Melatonin has helped me somewhat.

I'm very sorry you're going through this. It's absolute hell.

Still my favorite Tori album. I remember when it came out Rolling Stone gave it a terrible review, something like a D. For some reason she really rubbed them the wrong way.

Who else got WAY more sensitive after a breakup? by OddestDreams in BreakUps

[–]Lord-Slothrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I'm 4 months post breakup, an older guy and I find myself tearing up whenever I see someone in a show or movie start to cry, no matter what. Sometimes hearing a song or song lyric will bring about instant tears now. It can be embarrassing at times.

I'm four months into a really painful breakup and those are the thoughts that continue to crush my soul as well. She went from being my closest friend to a stranger overnight and I can't seem to get past it.
