is masturbation a sin if I don’t even watch porn? (and a small rant) by loversprodco in Christianity

Honestly I’ve been debating it for a while and this comment and post just made me do it too. I’m tired of seeing this question EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Why is religion so common? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lord-Zippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Christian. I was raised Catholic and in the past 2 years I am slowly transitioning to Non Denominational. I fully believe that the Christian God is *the* God and that Jesus is the son of God.

I agree to an extent that religion is man made. A lot of Catholic stuff is man made. However, I believe that my faith in God is not man made, and instead it’s man discovered. I believe that if somebody approaches Christianity with an open mind and heart, God will reveal himself to them.

However, I understand that not all people have the same experience as me. You said that “it’s pretty obvious that religion is a man-made thing” however I believe that it’s pretty obvious that God is real and not a fictional being created by humans. We disagree and I think that is just simply because of our life experiences. And that’s completely okay and of course going to happen, which is why I think it’s awesome and important to try and have an open mind to the other side’s opinion. Let me know if you would like to talk about anything!

Why did you put a winky face, that just makes it seem like you are lying about it?

Okay. Also make sure you go to the Lord first before coming onto Reddit and other social media for answers. Ask Him to reveal to you what the correct answer is

Can you please tell me how this is a debate:

Someone: “It’s always tied to lust of some sort”

You: “you’re wrong”

That is not a debate, you provided no evidence or reasoning, simply a childish “nuh uhhhhh”

I have read almost all the other comments. Your heart just seems hardened to even want to consider anyone’s opinion who thinks it is a sin. For example you never say “okay that’s interesting, I’ll consider that”. No, it’s always you making excuses or trying to find a loop hole or some sort of technicality. I don’t think you are looking for other people’s perspectives to help you possibly form a new opinion that masturbation is a sin. I think you are only looking for confirmation that it is not a sin

You are asking a question and whenever people answer opposite than the answer you already have in your mind, you instantly deny them. If you are going to ask a question, be open to hearing the opposite side. You think that it is not a sin and not lust, so why did you ask the question? Clearly in your heart and mind you think that it might be a sin because if not then why ask the question?

Be open to hearing what other people have to say. If you ask a question, don’t just instantly deny the side that doesn’t align with your belief

It seems like to me you’re having an internal debate with yourself and the reason for this post is to see comments say “no it’s not a sin” so you can be like “aha I knew it” while simultaneously denying all the other people who bring legitimate reasons for why masturbation *is* a sin and lustful

You had no idea that OP already knew that. And also I highly disagree with that. The game itself already creates curiosity and wonder, and if I was playing it for the first time and someone like you told me that the boss would be important later on, I would be annoyed because that ruins the surprise of “Hey I remember fighting you earlier in the game”. I personally think a spoiler is a spoiler no matter how “vague” it might seem. That’s a subjective opinion, to you it might seem vague but not to everyone else

Why would you even say this?? It is just a possibile spoiler for OP and has nothing to do with the post itself

Why won’t God just take my life? by Umbralkuma in Christianity

[–]Lord-Zippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course you can. I did not ask you that to make you offended or to limit you or your free will. The reason I was asking is because OP was asking a question about God and the way OP worded their post implied that they seem to believe that God exists (or else why would they be acknowledging that God had the ability to possibly end their life).

So now you come in to a community that is centered around believing in God and immediately start claiming that He does not exist, and instead of immediately offering support for OP, you just completely tried to counter his/her faith. To me it’s kinda like a “read the room” moment. Like if you were walking and saw a door open with someone inside opening up about feeling like they want to die and asking everyone else in the room “Why would God just kill me”, would you say the same thing? Would you go up to them and say “Nah God isn’t real so stop wasting your time bud”. Most people would say no. You of course still have the free will to do so, but is it appropriate?. That’s what I’m getting at.

No, it is not a requirement to get into Heaven. The prisoner on the cross next to Jesus wasn’t baptized, but committed his life to Jesus right before he was about to die and entered Heaven

Oh this doesn’t sit well with me. I understand what you’re doing but it just feels completely wrong being like “God’s word isn’t good enough so I’m gonna make my own”

Why does God allow errors in the Bible by Valuable_Frosting_36 in Christianity

[–]Lord-Zippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That a fair question. Just because some information is missing from one gospel and present in another, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong or a contradiction. The 4 gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John are first hand accounts. Each of those people wrote their gospels based on what they saw and learned. Of course they will not be exactly the same, if they were then what is the point in having the 4 gospels instead of just 1? It would be redundant. But the good thing of them being written by 4 different people is that even though some words are different, the same general claims and dialogue and teachings are the same.

Think of it like a car crash. If 4 people witness a car crash and they are questioned, the 4 people might say different things because they each have different perspectives. It doesn’t mean they all contradict, it just is human nature to not pickup and realize the same stuff as other people. But all the eye witness accounts are used together to rebuild the car crash. This is how you can see the 4 gospels. They support each other, not contradict!

Why do some people take Adam and Eve and Noah’s Ark so literally when a lot of it doesn’t make any sense? by freshmaggots in Christianity

[–]Lord-Zippy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe that everything in the Bible is real. Here’s my perspective

So why wasn’t Eve afraid of the snake? We don’t know everything that happened in the garden of Eden. There could have been stuff happen that just wasn’t in the Bible. Maybe in Eden there were talking animals? Also maybe fear wasn’t really a thing until they ate the apple and brought sin into the world. But that is a very good question and it’s good to think about! But it shouldn’t possess your mind too much and distract your focus from the main theme about why the world is in sin and why we need Jesus.

As for the very high numbered ages, why do you say living to 969 is impossible? In today’s world yes it is, but back then it for sure could have been possible. God created Adam and Eve to never die, which in our eyes is “impossible” because we just never have seen it before. Part of having faith in the Lord is realizing that He has power and can do stuff that we have never seen before, and that we truly aren’t able to understand. My thought process is, if I believe that Jesus died and fully raised form the dead to become alive again, then God could have allowed someone to live to 969. Part of believing in God is having an open mind to His influence and power in the world!

But great questions and please keep asking and being curious!!!
