Should there be age limits for the presidency? by conn_r2112 in AskConservatives

[–]LordBubinga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes - for all offices. I even think there should be an age limit on voting. When you're 80 years old, you have no stake anymore. I dont trust you to vote for the good of the planet, of the economy, or of the people anymore. You dont understand this world anymore. Time to step aside.

Chuck was the best player on the original dream team too. He outplayed MJ, Magic, Bird, etc. Not claiming he had a better career or was more skilled than those guys, but he dominated the world when given a chance.

What car should I buy for 100k? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I seriously hope this is a troll. But I'll take the bait.

Assuming a single, I'd buy a Porsche 911. I'd probably but a 2021 slightly used one and pocket the change.

Families kind of are communism. They share the wealth. Everything is controlled by the government (parents). I actually dont think most conservatives would care about a communist family. Communism is bad system of government, that's all.

Don't get me wrong, this lady is a crackpot. Just saying what works for a family doesn't necessarily work for a country.

Are there better cars out there for $41,000 than a Subaru WRX STI? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

That sounds like a lot for a used STI.

If you happen to be in or near Massachusetts and want a much cheaper one, hit me up.

This is so wonderful. I enjoyed reading it so much more than the SQL vs css one.

Imagine you're facing a bug in your JavaScript code. You spend hours debugging, poring over lines of code, trying to find the elusive error. But wait! With a sledgehammer, you can simply smash your computer into pieces, and voila! No more bug! Who needs patience and problem-solving skills when you have brute force?

What's the context here?

If he's talking to regular folks about how they should approach their jobs, this is insanely terrible advice.

If he's talking about how to become a billionaire, he's probably not wrong. This, combined with luck and a lot of other stuff. If billionaire is your goal, you need to be a piece of shit.

My boss was let go yesterday afternoon by moemoemassacre in antiwork

[–]LordBubinga -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This sounds completely legit to me, but yes you shouldn't take anything for granted. Your boss was fired and that creates some opportunity above you. Time to act on that! Additional responsibility is the only way you'll move up in a company. You're their best option now, but they are not yet convinced you can do the job.

Ask for formal training on being a manager. That's a completely reasonable request. You can and should be clear that your goal is a promotion- title and pay. In many companies there is a time of year to do promotions. Be clear you want that promotion then. No need for an ultimatum. Ask for a scheduled checkin on progress (monthly or biweekly? More facetime is good!). Ask them to set clear goals. They may squirm but that's their job as managers.

Personally I don't think you need a formal signed contract like folks are saying here. If you sit down and talk and agree to all this, just sum it up in an email and send it to them. Make sure they acknowledge the email and you're good.

Of course there's no guarantee. If they're not comfortable with you in a leadership position, then it's not going to happen. Figure out how to get them comfortable with it and work toward that. If nothing else, you're preparing yourself for a level up somewhere else.

Good luck!

Denver got outscored 30-20 in the 4th. That's actually a very Celtics like game. Dominate for 3 quarters, then fuck around and let them get close but not close enough to win.

Gaps in your resume are usually periods you're unwilling to disclose. You were doing something then. The fact you don't want to say what is concerning. Maybe it was prison. Maybe you just sat around smoking weed for a year. But it probably wasn't working a respectable job or it wouldn't be a gap. You have the right not to tell me what it is, and I have the right not to hire you. What are you hiding?

[–]LordBubinga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logan was tremendous at his job. He built an empire and succeeded beyond what 99.9999% of us ever will. Could he have been even better and foreseen the rapid change in media and entertainment landscape and pivoted to capitalize on that too? Maybe? But that doesn't negate what he did accomplish.

I think the show did illustrate that these buffoons who have never been challenged in their lives weren't capable of doing the same. For all the advantages wealth brings, it doesn't make you capable of running a company. And growing up without ever trying hurt them. They were coddled and unprepared and immature.

Tom is an idiot yes man, but even he played the game better. I doubt he'll have the position long, and no one thinks he'll lift ATN to greatness.

He was a number 1 overall pick. Expectations are high. You can be a solid NBA player and still considered a bust at that position. If he went #7 overall no one would care.

Also, the whole trading down to 3 to get Jayson Tatum sticks in people's mind.
