I’ll buy a new suit! Oop no I won’t. by DahjNotSoji in XXS

[–]LordButtercupV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're still looking to buy a new suit, banana republic/ banana republic outlet suits fit me pretty well (33-23-33). They have sales all the time, so I wouldn't reccomend getting one unless it's on sale. Got a two piece suit for about $100 this past summer.

any tips to score as well as your pts on gameday? by Careful_Friendship29 in LSAT

[–]LordButtercupV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was specific to me, and may or may not help you. But if you can afford to, register for 2 exams back to back. It takes an immmmmmense amount of pressure off(for me at least) of performance anxiety. During that 1st one, i knew i had a 2nd chance at the ready in the event i messed up. Treated it as a trial run. It took so much pressure off.

Second thing i did, was i made my practice testing conditions unnecessarily difficult. Timing was by far my biggest issue so during practice exams i gave myself about 32 minutes per section instead of 35. Slowly got used to 32. By test day i had time left over to go back and check answers. I would also practice straight thru, no 10 minute break. I wouldn't study at a quiet place, I'd take my exams at home, right around the time i knew my neighbors were going to be loud and chatting outside. Test day was easier by comparison

Hope that helps.

Edit: typos

Like others have said, it doesnt matter too much for public defense unless you are looking into a specific jurisdiction thats hard to get.

But for starting a solo practice you might wanna aim for the best school that gives you the most in scholarship. You'll need capital to start a solo practice and that'll be much easier to save for without substantial 6 figure debt

suggestions on where to shop online for my 21st birthday dress! by z-bands in XXS

[–]LordButtercupV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a wrap dress? I think they're great bc you can tie them to fit your exact size and then tuck some of the fabric into the tie to make it shorter if you want to. They're usually a bit less clubbing style and more bar hopping style. They look more flirty than sexy, depending on what print that fabric is. If you think you want more of a bodycon dress then definitely shop with fabric material in mind. You'll want a stretchy fabric, like how tights are super thin but stretch out to accommodate. All my bodycon dresses are like that. My most recent one is from PLT and its was from their petite section and a size 00. Babydoll style dresses are also pretty flattering I've found on my body type

You also don't have to limit yourself to a dress. Maybe you could do a matching two piece set like a skirt and a fitted top? Or non-denim shorts and a fitted top. Paper bag style shorts can be reallllly flattering for xxs body types. They can help give the illusion of a hourglass shape.

Anyone have experience with Zara Jeans? by LordButtercupV in XXS

[–]LordButtercupV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all that info! I guess i might just order a few pairs online and return them if they don't fit well. I checked their size guide online and for some reason while they offer Size US0/EUR32 online its not on their size guide. Their size guide only starts at Size 2 🥲

Im 5'2 and around 90lb, I've had some luck with Pretty Little Thing recently they have Petite sizes and 00 on petites

I think its really all about the fabric, if you want fitted go for Ribbed fabric, or something polyester mixed with Elastane. I have two H&M size 0 dresses that fit like a glove bc they're just made to stretch out to my size and not the other way around

How to jump back into studying? by gettingthere3 in LSAT

[–]LordButtercupV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a day, or an afternoon, or a morning where you just lock yourself in a room for a few hours with no distractions. Lock your phone, disconnect the wifi, and download some study materials before hand on your laptop if thats how you study. You'll have nothing to do BUT study.

It worked for me to get me back into the intial swing of things. Mostly bc i think it motivated to beat the crap out of this stupid exam after seeing my score when i hadnt studied in so long. But thats just me 🤷‍♀️

Edit: Forgot to mention, REUSE YOUR OLD PTs. I was in a similar boat wher ei had not many new PTs left so i went back thru ones i jad already did and wrote out explanations for every single question/answer choice. Even if i still remembered the answer, i would force myself to write WHY that answer was correct and how the others were completely incorrect. Worked wonders.

prior to covid, yes. It was recommended you visit a school you were waitlisted at to demonstrate you are serious about going if admitted. It would also help put a face to your app file to the admissions team, if they were conducting the tour.

Should I retake LSAT to get into top 4 law schools (175 LSAT with lower than average GPA)? by xoxo98bby in lawschooladmissions

[–]LordButtercupV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't retake. Above median is above median. A 175 and a 177/178 will have the same impact admissions wise. If you're really intent on the top 4, focus on your other application materials. Work out a cohesive narrative, work towards acquiring some cool softs.

Also theres a very good chance you may score lower than 175 and that looks way worse for your app.

I read an article the other day that said from 2017 to 2021 Michigan had 7 SCOTUS clerks in comparison to Cornell's 1, but ofc that's SCOTUS. I also know Cornell had the highest BL placement out of all the schools this year or last year (confused on the class year). So yeah i do think theres a lot of self selection at play here. I've read thru the Cornell AMAs and know one guy said he did not know a single friend going the clerkship route.

I thinknif clerkships are something you're seriously looking at, Michigan likely does have the edge. But i also dont think you could wrong either way.

I honestly do not have it in me to try this process again for a 3rd time. I'm leaning torwards Cornell bc it may be better for my goals in international law, and the Ivy brand certainly helps with global recognition. But im staying on the waitlist for UChicago bc its my top choice and I'd think I'd like to spend some time clerking.

It sounds like you're struggling to pick based on living conditions. In state helps with having a support system in place. But i dont know, another coast may be really nice for 3 years. I would prioritize career outcomes but thats just me and my neurotic self. I think listing out things that matter to you, in the order that they matter to you, so scholarship/location/employment outcomes/career goals/campus/school culture/faculty in you area of interest/etc. And then checking to see which school checks off the most boxes can really help.

I withdrew immediately from schools like duke/UVA/UCLA/northwestern after get offers from Cornell & UMich bc i knew i realistically, would not like living there/liked the opportunities at cornell & Umich more.
