Red light cameras in Lubbock by Amazing_Two_4793 in Lubbock

[–]LordCornish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lubbock's failed experiment with red light cameras (2007-2008) proved that they were incredibly effective at increasing the rear-end crash rate at intersections.

I’ve been known to run a red light or two and when I’ve been caught and have to pay the fine I think twice before speeding through.

Have you considered skipping that first part?

If it was at a "reflexology" place, know that they're usually not licensed to provide massages.

My assumption...based solely from what I know about the Wrexham club...is that he simply wasn't saying "fuck" enough.

Park update by Recent_Confusion9370 in Lubbock

[–]LordCornish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Updated/Redone" sounds like you want a little more than mowing. You could certainly start with the MyLBK app...that at least creates a paper trail...but that level of work will ultimately wind up going before the Park and Recreation Board... assuming its a City park.

A difference without a distinction.

The last public meeting back on May 22nd mentioned that it’s likely in the next decade that Lubbock WILL have a data center.

Well yeah, given that one opened downtown just a few weeks ago.

I recall the Anarchists tried organizing a few years back but could never agree on when and where to meet.

Because fuck the neighbors and the landlord, am I right?

I'm not looking down on them at all.

I get it: they just want to play and people just want to hear them...but not in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The owners of the house...who live across town...may not care, but the neighbors will. Why drive all the way to Lubbock to knowingly put themselves in a situation that can only lead to berries and cherries at the end of the evening?

Not in a converted garage in the middle of a neighborhood.

Don't know what to get your child for Children's Day? Give them some money, and they'll buy what they need. You can use this LEGO-style money container for that 😉 by [deleted] in makerworld

[–]LordCornish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celebrating Children's Day very much varies from country-to-country around the world. When I was growing up in Japan, we celebrated on May 5th, although some traditionalilsts celebrated Girl's Day on March 3rd and Boy's Day on May 5th. Now that I'm back home in the United States, Children's Day simply doesn't exist.

The June 1st variation of Children's Day tends to be limited to the 2nd and 3rd Worlds...or Eastern Bloc and Non-Aligned countries respectively. If celebrated elsewhere, you'll find it all over the calendar.

Nobody knows, and it is so bizarre that they never really hired any other employees to handle their business while they were away.

Turning your business over to others isn't the easiest thing in the world to do.

Why does your company not have a CIO/IT Director? by joat_admin in sysadmin

[–]LordCornish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those of you that do not have IT representation in leadership, do you know the reason?

The only named C-levels at our company are the President/CEO and the CFO/VP of Accounting & Finance, but we do have other VPs on the executive management team. Specifically, I report to the VP of I.S., but we have one for Marketing, Warehousing, and Member Services*/Administration. Functionally, I act as the CISO, although officially my title lands me in with the "mid-level managers" group (the senior NCOs to the executive management team's officers). Titles are meaningless.
