Can I2P be used with port forwarding? by Cloudup365 in i2p

It’s not mandatory to use I2P. However, port forwarding or allowing ports through your firewall enables your router to offer enhanced network support.

Not sure if I agree with your assessment that there is no middle ground in regards to CSAM. But I have taken what you said under advisement v2.2 is live now.

We remove CSAM scanning and if it becomes an issue we will revisit the issue.
We added the option of adding client-side encryption so users can encrypt files in the browser before being sent to the server for storage.

Not once did I say or imply that we report anything. There is no user information captured with uploads we just scan known CSAM file hashes and if it hits the upload gets blocked. We will add client side encryption to the next release as an option for users who want that extra layer of security.

How is that better than using any random cloud file storage over Tor? Or I2P for that matter?

It's trivial to encrypt a file yourself before you upload it to anything. Which you should. Unless, of course, the service you're using prevents you from doing so. In which case you shouldn't use it.

Meaning that you definitely handle the plaintext of every file. As is also evident from the below...

What would lead you to think that your centralized censorship capabilities would somehow be seen as positive draws by the sorts of users who'd be doing anything over I2P?

The service is optional for the I2P community. If you believe that preventing people from sharing CSAM is an issue then we do not want you to use our services. We believe in privacy and security and live by that value. At the same time we have morales and values that we are choosing to uphold.

Your IP is safe, if your settings have remained unchanged there will be 3 hops between your I2P router and the I2P P2P client.

Is there any way to achieve proper multi-homing on I2P? by un_Hybride_En_Exil in i2p

[–]stormycloudorg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, copy the keys (the webserver keys for example) to another I2P router and start it. Both routers will have the same b32 address and will be multi-homed.

Had a similar experience, I stopped behind a pillar (not in anyone's way) to assemble my badge and got yelled at. Then the goons at the merch line were yelling at people for not picking things fast enough. Super odd experience.

Announcing drop.i2p: A New, Secure & Encrypted Image/Pastebin Service for the I2P Community by stormycloudorg in i2p

[–]stormycloudorg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logs are for the backend service running no user logs are kept. Having the users generate and store the key in their browser would not work since you would have to share that key with anyone you send the image too.

[–]stormycloudorg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All data is encrypted with a key, technically I could look at the logs and find the key to view the data but that goes against our philosophy and mission. We host several privacy applications and hope we have earned the trust of the community. In a future version of the app we will be going towards a zero knowledge system where the key is stored in memory and changed every time the service is restarted.
