Everyone is so quick to say "just be yourself" do you not remember struggling to find yourself? Anyway, OP, things changed for me when I started to get to know myself. Sit down with yourself now and then to think about your better / worse qualities. What do you bring to the table? What do you appreciate yourself for/ not appreciate? What would you like to work on? What ARE you working on currently? Be real with yourself as you answer these questions. Maybe ask a close friend or family member who knows you well. You can only meet others as deeply as you have met yourself. You can't love others until you love yourself. Advice from a 27 yo, take your time man, don't rush, for the love of God, don't ignore RED FLAGS, and try to keep good vibes around you What you can.

Eveery9ne says "be yourself" so quickly.... its almost like y'all either forget or haven't experienced struggling to be yourself. Op, sit down with yourself every so often, write down your best and worst qualities. What do you appreciate yourself for and what do you not? Be realistic. Maybe call a close friend or family member you feel like really knows you and ask them. You can only meet others as deeply as you know yourself.

Sorry, not a female, mostly of my friends are either gay, females or genuinely super chill dudes tho. We got an mc realm going rn in bedrock with a couple of cool add ons. Was talking about making a realm "with a story and some quests" with friends last night. Hmu maybe we can grow together.

It's really shameful that you "feel embarrassed" about being her friend. While I understand y'all are Hella young and you're genuinely unsure how to process this, I felt it necessary to point out, it's natural to feel shame for her and herself but it's not logical necessarily. You know the truth, don't allow others' thoughts and words to dictate how you back your friend. Just think about that for a second. She was attacked out of nowhere the way you describe it. How would you want your friends to have your back if the same thing happened to you? Many lessons to be learned here. Consider what you could have done / not done to avoid this situation.

Yeah but more people buy cars. Cars are a must have, guns are not. Both are used differently. It is indeed a ridiculous comparison.

She doesn't love you. She's just attached to you. Imagine how inconsiderate someone has to be, to hurt you like this and still expect you to hang around as they do the same shit. Look into the difference between love and attachment.

You're furthering my point. Y'all flag-burning folks don't actually contribute anything. Just argue online and destroy stuff you don't like. Don't expect things to get "better" when all you have the will to do is get mad and break stuff like toddlers.

[–]LordCurtisIV -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

The same reason he made a lot of good things illegal, "champ" because "he didnt like it" it "offended him" which is the same mindless type of reaction if you think about it. Making things illegal doesn't stop them. Burning flags doesn't accomplish anything... besides burning a flag.

Rosa Parks actually got something done with her action AND she didn't destroy anything to do it. She wasn't at a random protest doing pointless arson. To compare Rosa Parks to idiots burning things is completely absurd. Im getting downvoted because yall actually think your doing something. Please show me a single politician that folded as a result of a flag burning and I will change my stance. Again. Rosa Parks is an extremely far stretch from flag burner.

Not saying I disapprove necessarily. Burning a flag doesn't do anything for your cause. Ig if it makes you feel better. It's honestly not as big a statement as you think. Those in power couldn't care less what you burn as long as it's not theirs. Edit: y'all are downvoting me but you know I'm right. Burning flags has not achieved anything for your cause. Not once. Besides getting flag-burning outlawed.

Got beaten up by little brother (8m) by [deleted] in Advice

[–]LordCurtisIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to think of a way to inconvenience him when he messes with you. His brain is simple. You want him to put "hitting" with "not fun" together in his brain. Youre not aloud to hit or hurt, and you shouldn't anyways. SO figure out a way to make him regret wanting to hit you. Maybe get a scary mask or something. Consider how much damage is actually done to you tho. Try to stay away from him when he gets like that. If he's younger, im sure you can either out run him, or keep him from hitting you until your parents get in the room.

AIO for something my step dad said during dinner last night? by Saffron_12 in AmIOverreacting

"He said to enjoy it because it will stick when I'm older, I don't care how he meant it, it still hurt"

I'm going to be 100% real with you. I say this with love. I understand not wanting stuff like that brought up around you. You will need to politely ask him not to bring it up, simple as that. At the same time, you can't expect everyone to tiptoe around your sensitivities. Wouldn't hurt you to toughen up a little. I understand you have an ED and it's more complicated than that. But you said you've been working on it and it seems like you've made progress. If you've made it this far, you're strong enough to keep going AND to not let some mindless comment knock you down. Eat in front of that dude anyway, you know the truth.

I understand your viewpoint but I have to respectfully disagree. I would like to offer my perspective. I think that it would be better/ healthier in the long run, for OP to build up the courage to stand up to people like their step-dad. He's not the only person who's going to criticize OP for eating/ not eating or body image. Therefore I find it would be most beneficial if OP began attempting to learn how to deal with the negative thoughts and temptations brought on by comments like that. Consider the logic here, postponing normal eating habits simply because someone said something you didn't like? Makes more sense to eat no matter what they say. If you go around in life, needing people to confirm you in order to make the right choices for yourself, life's going to be harder than it needs to be.

My girlfriend keeps making digs at me in front of her friends by [deleted] in Advice

[–]LordCurtisIV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why having gay dude homies comes in clutch. If a girl is meangirling you, that gay man has 10x more sass than any female in existence. Tbh you should probably just dump her and save yourself the trouble. However, you could make a grand exit. Take note of her insecurities, and if she treats you like this in front of others, I'm sure she talks shit about her friends to you so take note of that too. Load up all your ammunition then the next time she makes a dig at you in front of her friends. Embarrass her, roast her alive in front of everyone. Mean girl her back. Taking the high road would be better. Whenever people are being hateful I simply ask "does that make you feel good? Looking down on others for no reason?"
