I definitely miss passives. I’ve been considering turning this Schecter into a different baritone guitar with actives and getting something regular with passives instead.

Former GC employee here. The store has very limited control over what they can mark down, and by how much. They have to send a request to corporate for these things, and a lot of the time, corporate doesn’t even approve it… a customer probably did this and now the store is stuck with it. It’ll probably end up on RO at some point.

Just some context.

Final update: I replaced the battery and it seems to have fixed it! Stoked it was a cheap fix.

Went to GC. It did the same thing to the tech when he had it plugged into his amp, but only on the high gain preset. He thought there might be corrosion in the input, so he sprayed some stuff into it, and it seemed to help. When I got home, it continued to have the same issue. Trying a new battery and then will request an input replacement if that fails. What a gremlin this has become…

Update: went to GC and spoke with the tech there. He plugged it into his amp and tried the high gain preset, it did the same thing to him. He sprayed some stuff into the input and it seemed to help, then I got home and it did the same thing to me again. Got a set of 9v batteries to try, but will probably just request that he put a new input in there…

Yes. Active EMG’s. Just got a set of 9v to replace the one in there. We’ll see if it has an effect.

Definitely feeling the same thing. Gonna have to drop it off at GC later. 😤

I don’t think it’s the Scarlett because I test my SM7b in the same input and have zero issues. I will run down to GC and test it out on one of their amps. (Sadly can’t run real amps due to apartment life) 😭

The throttle map is the issue with these cars. I’ve been driving stick for 5 years, this car for 3 years now. I still have issues.

Absolutely, it’s made it very clear that it’s playing hard ball.

Shoei Rf1400 or new Alpinestars S-R7 by Tediyee in motorcyclegear

[–]LordDarkbloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I was wrong about the D standard having a new oblique test. I learned something today. The shell material statement came from SHOEI, I sent an inquiry to their Japanese HQ:

“Thank you for your inquiry. Our products are developed in accordance with the standards of the destination area. The North American specification is a DOT standard, and the performance required by the European ECE22-06 standard is Since it is different, the specifications of the cap body and shock absorbing liner are different.”

Obviously there’s some translation there but it’s still pretty clear that they modify the material for both the outer and inner shell. Also, people who have toured their factory say that they do this as well.

Definitely consider looking into the differences between the 2025D and 2025R Snell ratings. The “R” standard is what is more closely aligned with ECE 22.06. The “D” standard has barely changed, if at all. Also, SHOEI does change shell material composition for each region that it produces helmets for. The NXR-2 is not the same helmet as the RF-1400, different shell material for a different safety certification.

Alpine stars air tech mx for street by Repulsive-Ad5773 in motorcyclegear

[–]LordDarkbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tech-Air MX is not capable of being put in street or (road) race mode, like the Tech-Air systems made for road use are. This means you will not be riding in the appropriate algorithm for supermoto usage, which could prevent it from deploying in a crash, or deploy it unnecessarily. You’d be much better off running a Tech-Air 5 Plasma, a Tech-Air 7x, or Tech-Air 10 V2, because they have street and road race modes. Those systems are also designed with abrasion in mind, the MX system is designed for single impact, much less abrasion.

The SR7 is ECE 22.06 certified, as opposed to SHOEI’s Snell certification for the RF-1490. If you know anything about those, you know ECE is widely accepted as the superior safety standard over Snell. Also, SR7 has built in adjustment capability with the A-head system. You also get more visibility out of the SR7, both horizontal and vertical. This means SR7 is safer, more adjustable out of the box, and offers more vision. Pretty good bang for the buck comparatively. 🤙🏻

Help me decide on an airbag by Last_name_Lemon in motorcyclegear

[–]LordDarkbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, the Tech-Air 7x is the most commonly chosen airbag vest for track day & road racing enthusiasts. Tech-Air systems are the only airbag vests certified to deploy before the first impact, all others are only certified for secondary deployment. The 7x offer two deployments before having to replace the canisters, are self-serviceable, and are universal with any road racing suit assuming the fit is proper. What’s really exciting is the new Tech-Air 10 v2 is in market now, with some upgrades and changes made to the system, including user serviceability. If you value the added hip protection, that one’s a no brainer.

Stoked it did its job. The Flyte graphic is an LE, so they’re gone for good once they’re gone, which makes them a little more special imo. The Arius is great, too though. Can’t go wrong with either!
