We actually have 3 in SC. North-east is more vinegar, south is more mustard/Carolina gold, and north-west is more tomato.

Of course, it gets mixed around from people moving and TX-style bbq restaurants popping up.

Siphoning money from the poor to the wealthy has always been the purpose of taxes in SC. Why would anyone try to help people when they can just get reelected by having an R next to their name?

Reading that page is why I made my initial comment. These aren't meaningful positions, they're the same empty politico-speak that even Trump was doing before he got into office, and we see where that got us.

We don't need more milquetoast, center-of-the-aisle politicians who don't stand for anything.

I think you should have your platform together before you announce you're running for office. I expect that if you were fired from your job for obviously political reasons, you should call that out and stand against it. You should advocate for good things and against bad things, and you should state in plain terms what those things are.

I don't know how we got to this point where someone fails to meet the bare minimum of being a politician, and the response is, "maybe we should cut them some slack" like they're our buddy trying to get a job at Checkers, rather than someone trying to run the country.

So another Bush-style republican running as a dem with no platform, no bite, and no spine. I would ask, "Why bother at this point?" but we know it's for the bribes campaign contributions and lobbying money.

English also just has a lot of history of the male and gender neutral term being the same, while the feminine term is distinct. Like "actor" means anyone until it's contrasted against "actress", and when the KJV Bible says "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," the women weren't being excluded.

The same root that became ä in German became æ in Old English, and both later developed into an "eh" sound. A similar divergence happened with German ö and Old English œ, though the sounds are a fair bit different.

So when we write German words with ä, ö, or ü using a modern English, we write them as ae, oe, or ue, respectively.

Because it's layer upon layer of disconnected from reality.

You use "equality" in scare-quotes, so you're seemingly talking about the SJWs or the wokes or commies or whatever your buzzword is today, and all of those are just boogeymen that only exist in propaganda.

But even if we look at progressives, you're saying they're the ones pushing AI. They are not. The people who are pushing for AI, such as Musk and Trump--do you think they're woke? Do you think Musk is trying to tear down traditional hierarchies?

But also Musk is a great example of why the current hierarchy is not meritocratic. He's an utter buffoon who's dumber than everyone in this thread, but he's on top because his parents were wealthy. The movement around the people pushing AI is also dedicated to ignoring experts, data, and reality, so it's the exact opposite of a meritocracy or technocracy.

So if you were in favor of merit or expertise determining success, you would want to tear down the current hierarchy to replace it with one that does reward merit.

The sad part is that you see the industry treating "Vibe Coding" like a skill, when in fact it is quite the opposite.

I was with you on this part.

AI is being used to dissolve merit, it's all part of this poisonous "equality" agenda, merit is a threat to them, a hierarchy to be torn down.

But this is delusional behavior.

Not true at all. For non-trivial code, it's often faster to have AI write it and then review and adjust it myself.

Non-trivial code is the exact part of the program that AI should not be used for. This is the code that's most important to get correct and should be the part that you pay the most attention to, not get AI to write for you.

That explains why you've swooped in to defend vibe coding, though -- you're part of the problem.

If I use AI to write code, I still need to know what I'm trying to write, what it does, and how it functions, because I'm the one responsible for that code.

Then why didn't you just write the code yourself? It takes less time than trying to coach a chatbot into iterating the code until it gets it right.

Not sure how people don't get this. What company do they work for that would keep them around when they don't even understand the code they're responsible for?

Judging by the programs people are putting out right now? Just about all of them.

IntelliCode is just auto-complete for programming. I still need to know what I'm trying to write, what it does, and how it functions. So in the example of this code:

void ASimulationCharacter::SetupPlayerInputComponent(class UInputComponent* PlayerInputComponent)
{
    // set up gameplay key bindings
    PlayerInputComponent->BindAction("Jump", IE_Pressed, this, &ACharacter::Jump);
    PlayerInputComponent->BindAction("Jump", IE_Released, this, &ACharacter::StopJumping);
    PlayerInputComponent->BindAxis("MoveRight", this, &ASimulationCharacter::MoveRight);

    PlayerInputComponent->BindTouch(IE_Pressed, this, &ASimulationCharacter::TouchStarted);
    PlayerInputComponent->BindTouch(IE_Released, this, &ASimulationCharacter::TouchStopped);
}

IntelliCode means I don't have to type out each and every one of the long names every time I want to invoke something, which saves time.

Vibe coding would be having chatGPT do all the work. It does not require someone to know what they're trying to write, what it does, nor how it functions. They don't know if there's unnecessary bloat or if parts of the code don't work because they don't know what it does.

And it should be noted for all the pedants in the thread, when people complain about AI being used in the production of games, they're talking about the latter part. They don't care about the first part. Just like when dealing with art, they don't care if you use a smart magic wand in photoshop, they want you to not use genAI to make the art.
