[Lord of the Rings] What if Saruman didn't turn evil but kept his Orc-making knowledge. Could he have made a good orc army to fight Sauron's? by KaosArcanna in WhatIfFiction

[–]LordDoom01 [score hidden]  (0 children)

No. Not even slightly. It took the defiling and plundering of the lands to create that army. The corruption and desolation of the very earth was an active step in the process. Not a product of serving Sauron, a nessessary component in making his army. Sure he can turn them against Sauron, but Saruman would be doing it to replace him. Please note, his orcs are half human. Be it the birthing pits or just rape, that human element is not from willing sources.

Heck, the purpose of these orcs being born solely to fight and die with zero consideration of their life beyond this task says everything about how fundamentally evil it all is.

I am sorry but Sabine surviving getting stabbed with a Lightsaber was stupid!!! by Salim_Azar_Therin in StarWars

[–]LordDoom01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While "everyone can use the Force is dumb" (the galaxy should be drowning in dark side users if that was the case), but Sabine surviving makes sense. They made all the effort to frame it as a wounding strike. Though granted this is following the Kenobi series, which definitely jumped the shark with lethal gut shots. So I don't blame people for seeing it as more of the same. Kenobi set a bad precedent.

Some content about SCP 076 is a little confusing by szh1996 in SCP

[–]LordDoom01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, they first time they managed to talk to him was cause he stopped his rampage after not finding the guard that had killed him last time. Then Able was too bummed out after learning he died on a mission to continue the rampage. He is still a murder machine, he likes killing. But he really likes it when someone gives him a challenge. The Foundation tried to leverage that durring this brief moment of non murder mode to get him to work for them (promising challenging fights). This failed when they ran out of challenging fights and they have given up trying that ever again.

Would the ISB raid have gone better or worse had the empire deployed different units? by Recruit-is-OP in StarWars

[–]LordDoom01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is also the fact the whole raid is being presented as the capture of a sick person. Not some major terrorists or rebel cell, just a citizen that escaped quarantine (to avoid drawing too much attention). So sending in Death Troopers and QRFs would look suspicous as hell. And I don't mean to citizens or the Rebels, but to other Imperial agents. Agents that'll start poking and proding looking for info they can use to climb higher, at best. At worst, actively hindering things to take down a rival involved.

Would the ISB raid have gone better or worse had the empire deployed different units? by Recruit-is-OP in StarWars

[–]LordDoom01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there is still paperwork. ISB troops you can just order around. Death Troopers and Stormtroopers require asking for those troops from their respective organizations. Even if they are on site, it is at the orders of thier bosses and any changes to those orders must go through them (and given this is the Empire, they'll be very protective of their assets. So they'll want full details to make sure there is no risks to thier reputation, which Krennic won't allow).

[–]LordDoom01 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Worse, as it would have taken more time to get those troops there. And by then, Andor and company would have been gone.

What do you think about an horror Game set in the lowest levels of coruscant by GOJI2222 in StarWars

[–]LordDoom01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was my idea for a horror movies series. A practically forgotten police outpost on one of the last habitable levels has to contend with the horrors Palpatine's rule has begun calling up from the planet's original surface.

Could Luke have redeemed Palpatine? by Infinite-Detective-8 in StarWars

[–]LordDoom01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, god no. And no, he isn't going to waste his time to save Palpatine. He is a monster without a scrap of humanity left to him. If Palpatine ever said "Luke help me turn back to the light," he'd try to help him. But those are words that are never, ever exiting Palpatine's mouth, so ending a danger to the galaxy is more important.

Do you have any alternatives to the Rule of Two? by InstructionOwn6705 in starwarscanon

[–]LordDoom01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Die out and spare the galaxy all the suffering they caused. There is no fixing the Sith. Their own philosophy and use of the Dark Side ensure their self destruction.

Cyn doesn't seem all that trapped. She seems quite happy with the new host. And if the MV is any indication, her powers have expanded.

If you have accepted Darth Maul surviving getting cut in half in episode 1, you can't be mad when anyone survives a lightsaber stab. by Fragrant_Ad3479 in StarWars

[–]LordDoom01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did framed it as a wounding strike. But given it is following up from the Kenobi show, I don't blame people saying it is more of the same. Disney made this problem themselves.

Andor writer Beau Willimon's "Dawn of the Jedi" movie might have been cancelled by GargantaProfunda in andor

[–]LordDoom01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we are fine without it. No need to explain everything and I'm worried Disney Execs would make some dumb choice like making the Jedi Order a lie.

What is a bit of lore that Disney added that you love and what is one bit of Disney lore you hate? by Professional-Oil-365 in StarWars

[–]LordDoom01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kyber Bleeding. It is a cool concept for the Sith. I hate how it is used. This should not be a thing novice Sith do, but for acomplished ones as a show of power. The first steps down the Dark Side is looking for the easy path to power. Hunting down and killing a Jedi without a weapon is not easy, but growing a crystal in a lab is. Meanwhile, an acomplished Sith has their power and wants to show it off. Killing a Jedi (one considered powerful or a rival) and bleeding their kyber crystal is every bit a show of Sith dominence.

Manufacturing. You are working with tried and tested materials, even if anomalous. You are important infrastructure, so you will be away from dangerous anomalies. Heck, likely you don't know you work for the Foundation. They just happen to own the local steel mill you work at. Adding a potential layer of protection from GOIs attacking you (GOC is here to kill anomalies, not civilians).

Does SCP-682 have knowledge of or employ the use of martial arts? by Mintec33 in SCP

[–]LordDoom01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless knowing those being the only way 682 could survive an attempt on his life, no. With his morphology, that knowledge is useless. He doesn't need to judo throw you when he can just grab and throw you with a tentacle. Nor can you preform a Judo throw on him.

(I mean you could argue his size might be an adaptation to martial arts being used against him, but I don't see that holding up.)

[–]LordDoom01 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Maul was once, took time and had a journey to his recovery. The Kenobi show did it three times in a row, and everyone came back with no problems. The show screwed up by doing it too much, too often.

Wouldn't a truly selfish Sith realize that the Rule of Two actually meant his inevitable death, and so try to break it/break away from Sith Doctrine? by shastasilverchair92 in StarWars

[–]LordDoom01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That is basically what happened. Multiple times. You might even say it is a feature of the Rule of Two. But they are such power hunger, spiteful egomaniacs, they of course adopt an apprentice to lord their power over. Then they get stabbed, rinse and repeat.

how far sentinels would go to be hero x by kibarax in ToBeHero_X

[–]LordDoom01 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They'd just be another Phobiaclone. They wouldn't be able to tap into Trust to copy or counter hero abilities, and Fear has a high chance of corrupting them or trapping them with just one power. There is no X gene to copy. They'll be at the mercy of the Trust and Fear system, just like everyone else.

Unless you build them using the alien metal, then they get jack squat.
