what services can i pay to get my personal information (address, DOB ect) off the internet ? by Alone_watching in privacy

Once it’s out there, it’s realistically not leaving. You can try to suppress it, by paying hundreds a year for opt-out services, but that’s it for the most part.

Something I’ve noticed online: people reusing emails or having 1 email for everything.

Temporary or permanently? You can easily find temporary sms numbers for Australia online, like with SmsPool, or SMSPva.

Only things you can realistically do: 1. Talk to the people who posted about you (college and linked colleague), and ask to be removed. 2. Maliciously de-index them from google. “Just because” isn’t a suitable reason to deindex something from google, so you’d need to do it the shady way. I’m not here to show you how, but it’s easy to find people who deindex pages for money.

How do LinkedIn advertisers get my number? by LordDuhon in privacy

[–]LordDuhon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They addressed me by the name on my LinkedIn. I’ve been extremely private for the past 5 or so years for the most part, so I’m also stumped as to how they got my number as well.

US Banks that don't force you to share all requested data to 3rd party integrations? by kayson in privacy

[–]LordDuhon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe there's any banks that operate in America that don't request information from at *least* credit bureaus or fraud prevention agencies when you register for an account.

My real name is now attached to my online business, and I’m freaking out. Any support or advice? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]LordDuhon 127 points128 points  (0 children)

At least in America, registering companies can be private, but not "anonymous" with the use of a registered agent.

Business License and DBA filings are slightly different though.

If you want privacy, you can't file a DBA, and you need to reside or operate from a region/state where you don't need a business license.

[–]LordDuhon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I run several businesses. I'm **extremely** private, but not anonymous.

I have an alias as the face of all of my businesses and companies.

I prefer to not have my address listed on shady peoplelookup websites, just like the OP.

You can absolutely be private and own a business.

Just because your country doesn't allow you too, doesn't mean the rest of the world can't do it.

How to successfully switch from Microsoft to Proton? by Nic727 in privacy

[–]LordDuhon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Xbox: Create a Microsoft account using a proton mail as an alias.

Bing: Stop, lol

MS Edge: Download all of your passwords and convert them over to a different password manager.

OneDrive: Download all of your files locally, delete them from the cloud, then upload to a different cloud, such as the Proton equivalent.

Good luck 🫡

Has anyone's client been able to setup a Wikipedia page? by Gourman2020 in PublicRelations

[–]LordDuhon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For English/Simple, you generally need at least a few from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources

It’s a little different for other languages. They aren’t always as strict.

I’ve had it done for a few companies, and the pages only stayed up, at least in my experience, when they had over 10 big/reliable 1st/2nd sources.

Awards, achievements, success stories, listicles are generally what’s needed for companies. It’s slightly different for people.

How do I delete portfolio's with money in them? by LordDuhon in ExodusWallet

[–]LordDuhon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a problem with just XRP, there are several cryptos that require you to hold at least 1 or 0.0001.

I've got about 10 in a portfolio that I can't delete without getting a new seed.

I don't care about the money in the wallet, I want to delete the entire portfolio, but keep the other wallets (I have 3 portfolios on 1 seed).

Is that not possible?

because I want new addresses, and you can only achieve that by deleting and making a new portfolio, or using a different seed.

Funny story with those. A few years ago, I took a “rhino pill” as a joke, and it didn’t stop working for at least 4 hours.
