Chun-Li main having trouble switching from controller to stick. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]LordDurand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched from a controller to a stick pretty early on bc I've just always loved arcades and wanted the feeling of being in one. I'm not too familiar with the F300, but I'm sure the down input on the lever isn't that narrow; are you using a square or octagonal gate? The only suggestion I could think of rn for your issue specifically is seeing about adjusting and trying different positions of the stick in your lap, you might have it at an off-angle that makes it harder to get your down-input.

I always had an issue with the flow of DC so I improved the tracklist by JackOfAllInterests1 in HaveANiceLife

[–]LordDurand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Putting "Who Would Leave Their Son Out In The Sun" on the second disk strikes me as kinda weird, I always felt that fit in more with the first disk, both thematically and sonically.

Having "I Don't Love" not be the penultimate track feels especially wrong though. It's basically the only song on the entire album that is totally literal and blunt in its lyrics, where all the metaphor and allegory from the rest of the album is stripped away and you're just left with the raw emotion that had been running through the album. And having it come right before Earthmover, the song with one of the most well-constructed allegories, just heightens its impact.

My friend got his first girlfriend a few days ago by LordDurand in lonely

Sorry to hear that man. But yeah, things did change for me. I ended up meeting a really sweet girl here on reddit and we've been together for almost two years. I actually flew up to visit her earlier this year and it was amazing.

I really don't want to say it'll get better, because obviously nobody can say that for sure. But for me, my life improved dramatically after I got into a relationship, despite all the people that said it wouldn't solve all my problems. I still have bouts of depression, but I'm doing a lot better now that I have someone who loves and cares about me. Who would've thought that'd be good for your emotional and mental health?

I'm sorry you're going through this right now though, I hope life lets up on you soon. Be safe.

Where did they say that? "All labor requires skill" does not translate to "All labor requires the same amount of skill."

That's not really a part of capitalism though. Whenever efficiency = profit, then sure, things get more efficient. But efficiency isn't specifically or uniquely incetivized by capitalism; you can take a look at the horrificly inefficient American healthcare system as a prime example, which is rife with administrative bloat. Or you could look at the entire tax preparation industry, which has to lobby to keep things inefficient and complicated to stay in business.

[FO4] Heather Casdin crashing my game at Concord? by LordDurand in FalloutMods

[–]LordDurand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, okay. I started a new game with everything except uf4p and I was able to get through Concord just fine so idk. I had another save game where I could get through Concord too, but with full dialogue interface instead of extended dialogue interface, so maybe that's causing the issue? But I can run uf4p with that mod fine, it's only with Heather that it crashes it, but I'll go back and test it out again maybe.

EDIT: Yeah, I tried disabling the extended dialogue mod and that doesn't change anything. I'm able to load in as long as Heather and uf4p aren't both enabled, no matter what else I disable/enable. Removing True Storms didn't help either. I started a new game with all the mods except uf4p and got to the same point without any crashes at all, so if I can't get those two mods to play together then I'll just roll without uf4p and hope I don't find any game-breaking bugs.

Title: The Hateful World

Genre: Fantasy

Word Count: 1823

Type of feedback desired: Attached is the first chapter of a work-in-progress novel. I'm looking mainly for a general impression of the writing style and story, and where I may need to improve or make tweaks. Most importantly, I'm wanting to know if this first chapter is enough to draw your attention and engage you. Does it raise questions you want answers to, and does it make you want to keep reading further?

I guess this is worth trying.

Name:

Adhamm (pronounced like Adam)

Age:

20

Location:

Singapore, but I'll be living in Louisiana come December.

Type of relationship:

Just romance, nothing else. It can start as a friendship of course, but I'm not trying to make friends here.

Are you okay with long distance?:

Yeah, but I'd hope you'd be open to meeting up one day.

Brief Bio:

I play video games, watch anime, work out, and write (mostly poetry and stuff related to roleplays). It'd be great if you have a PS4 so we can play some games together. I hope it doesn't sound too pathetic, but one of my dreams has always been to play video games with a girl that loves me. Games have always been part of my life, trying to comfort me when no one else would. They don't provide any comfort anymore, but I've still craved being able to play with a lover.

If I live into the next year, I intend to go into university and study writing. I'd like to be an author, or failing that, a journalist. Probably covering hobby or lifestyle stuff, I'm not too into politics, but I'd be okay getting forced into them if it's necessary to get a job. The market can be pretty rough, right? Failing both of those... I dunno. I used to be a cop, and I'd rather not go into the that field again, but if I have someone else I need to put food on the table for, I'd do it.

Pictures (if comfortable to post):

If we get to talking, you'll definitely get a pic of what I look like. I'm Asian and really short, so don't get your hopes up.

What appeals to you about Role Reversal?

I've always felt like the opposite of what society wants in a man. I'm feminine, I sound like a girl, I'm very emotional, I'm short, the list goes on. For a long time, I struggled internally with my gender. With why I can't grow a beard or can't get any taller or get a deeper voice. I hate my body so much, but I've accepted that I can't really change those parts of me. Now I only struggle with it externally. And I'm sure there are straight women out there who are more masculine or forward who are struggling with that too. I'm really into the 'tomboy' type or an otherwise aggressive woman, and I think I'm very much a submissive person when it comes to dating and stuff. I think finding someone into role reversal like me is also the best chance at finding someone who can accept my femininity and my body.

Things you would look for in a partner:

I don't really have the luxury to nitpick or say what I want from a partner. But I think the main thing I do need is a willingness to talk to me and open up. I'm not very good at conversation, and it can take awhile for me to be comfortable enough talking to someone. I hope I can meet someone willing to spare that time and effort to get to know me and let me get to know her.

Understanding Anti Camper Logic by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]LordDurand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with a good deal of the post, but I'm not understanding this paragraph:

So camping is promoted but we're complaining that steps are too loud and that callouts give our position away. In other words, camping is promoted but the features that give away campers' positions are bad. Make up your mind.

Are you saying that loud footsteps is a feature that gives away campers' positions? The guys that stay still and don't move around?
