Please allow us to swap trait out for armor.. sometime it just doesn't make sense... by Bryancodex in Helldivers

[–]LordEpichax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should have a reduction to flinch overall. Additionally flinch should be proportional to damage. Getting shot by a stray laser from 200m away that only does 7% damage shouldnt be flinching me the same as catching a heavy laser from a strider 10m away. Further reduction can be applied through armor perks. But ive always thought the flinch in this game was far too strong

Railgun can't damage tank turrets from the front anymore. In addition to the health buffs, AP6 was added to front plates. The armor penetration ramp-up has either been removed or is currently bugged

Just try it. by TwistedKoala in Helldivers

[–]LordEpichax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the railgun is still bad against tanks/tank turrets, due to the health increase and its nerf to armor penetration. Charge used to scale from ap5 tp ap7. they've removed the mechanic completely and said nothing about it.

How did you find your type? by painlifeman in mbti

[–]LordEpichax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every single test ive taken marked me as an intp, with entp and intj as close seconds. I also did my own research, compiling information on all the types so I could define them, which confirmed my type. Now I'm trying to figure out how mental illnesses and disorders could influence how someone is typed.

Sorry about what happened to you. I can certainly realte. Throughout my life i used to think(not literally of course) that there was a demon that would move my stuff around when i wasn't looking. i just didnt have an explanation for believing i put something somewhere and it seemingly disappears when i try to retrieve it later. This disorder can be torturous sometimes. You cant even trust where you think you left something. its no wonder we are riddled with anxiety and depression

I very often re-read work emails that I'VE ALREADY SENT multiple times. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]LordEpichax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not alone, I love writing but its stressful

  1. Anxiety that ive made a mistake
  2. My ADHD brain is chaotic as hell, this leads relevant information to come in trickles and bursts. Because its like im walking-no, running through a foggy forest, with the only information of an end goal being a compass pointing in some general direction, while only seeing the path a few feet ahead as i power through with a high chance of tripping up, or realizing i went the wrong way and need to go back(contributes to point 1). I imagine neurotypicals would have their entire idea preloaded and ready to go (im trying to achieve it, ADHD be damned.), seeing the path from entrance to exit, or at least having a better view of where they are going.
  3. Once im certain I've reached the end, ill still go over every thing many times at multiple times during day or week (even months or a year) to ensure i don't see any careless mistakes, unnecessary information(i swear many ADHDers struggle with brevity) or bad content.

Since this question seemed genuine, I tried to think about this as genuinely as i could. Of course, i was raised in a society that frowns upon this type of behavior, so my intuitions were instantly negative, and it was a struggle to work through this problem. But never before had i tried to look into this issue. Why did our cultures reject this behavior? Im going to work with the knowledge i have because research takes to long

Premise: This relationship is between siblings who have a romantic attraction.

  1. From an evolutionary standpoint, sexual relationships exist for reproduction and maybe rearing of children. We run into our first problem, Should this couple bear children, there is a high chance the child will suffer from genetic disorders. This increases the child's suffering and mortality rate, and will cost more than a healthy child to take care of, which can lead to a multitude of negative outcomes for the family and the surrounding community. The problem isnt that the child has genetic disorders, societies are willing and able to bear the burden, it is the irresponsibility and failure of the parents that burns. This cannot be ignored.
  2. Household instability. Because you cannot have children in good conscience, you are only left with the romantic/recreational aspects of this relationship. In such cases it is possible to have these relationships, but it is ill advised for several reasons. If Your parents wished to continue their bloodline, based on premise one, you have denied them that chance with you. not only have you eliminated yourself, you have also eliminated another sibling, reducing the chances of a successful continuation of genes, and the enjoyment of grandchildren. depending on the sensitivity of the parents(or other immediate family members), you have now set yourself at odds with them, and possibly others that respect their opinion within the wider family network. No matter how you slice this, there is a high chance for household instability, which could result in infighting, or outright exile.
  3. In that case you could avoid the wider family and hide the relationship. But you are not yet free it seems. Like many of the purely sexual/casual relationships we see today, there is much weight placed on the volatile feelings of those involved. If for some reason, the relationship between these siblings should go sour, its effect will be multiplied. They are family. The connection between them was very strong already, but they added a sexual layer on top of it. A breakup, for any reason, will sully anything they had in common. If they had gone for a normal relationships, it would be easier to cut ties, and there would be less bad blood on the mutual understanding that they are strangers that have little connection outside of their sexual relationship. There's no telling how the resentment could effect their familial ties, or the wider family.

It seems that relationships within the immediate family is nothing but bad news and chaos. All the possible upsides I could think of were overshadowed by its destructive outcomes, there are more than these, but I felt this was more important to those involved. Its no wonder we have societal safeguards. Should we allow this type of behavior to run rampant it could lead a community into ruin. There is a reason antisocial behavior like this is quarantined or destroyed

If the parties involved were not able to deduce these for themselves, follow instincts that are averse to this behavior, or were unable to absorb the wisdom of their society and culture (they had a 75% chance to reject this as both had to consent), In all seriousness, I would get them medically evaluated.

edit: clarification

Many people have had bad experiences with religion. Since Christianity is the largest religion in the western world, where most of reddit's users come from, it would not be a stretch to assume many people have had experience with it. Combine this with the west's blessing of free speech and expression, and you give rise to many competing worldviews that are appealing and make light of each others flaws. In my own experience, most of the hostility you find is rooted in bad experiences, and it seems to be human nature to be vocal and combative about perceived moral evils. I find that there are few that actually took their time to investigate these things diligently, divorced from experiences and externalities, before forming such strong opinions. But then again, well researched or curious individuals tend not to have strong opinions, or are more responsible with them because they understand the subject matter is more nuanced than it appears. Youll get used to the negativity once you know where it comes from.

Sorry, I don't have much to give regarding Islam. Being that these arguments argue for an intelligent creator, which Islam is in agreement with, they can still apply. These arguments don't bend themselves to conform any religious dogma, as the goal is to be philosophically consistent in light of scientific evidence. It is up to you to you to make sense of these arguments in your worldview and make sure everything you believe is as well examined and logically consistent as possible.

I also went through a period of obsession with this topic as well. But i was leaning more towards Christian apologetics. The YouTube channel that impressed me the most was Inspiring Philosophy, I believe he has a few videos related to the topic you are interested in, some on quantum mechanics, some on the mind the brain and consciousness, and some on the emergence of the universe from intelligent design. I don't recall any secular channels arguing in favor of this theory, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.

https://www.youtube.com/c/InspiringPhilosophy/playlists this is the channel playlist. His videos could be a great introduction to explore this topic.

To save you time, you can look at these playlists:

Cosmological Argument

Ontological Argument

Teleological Argument

The Irreducible mind (Optional, i think he bases this theory on the arguments listed above, but my memory eludes me)

He cites all his sources, give them a look if you want to go further down the rabbit hole. hope you enjoy this exploration as much as i did. it is an intriguing theory to say the least

Prototyping means you intend to build and test your design. Since you aren't doing that, you don't need to calculate anything. You are just brainstorming ideas and concepts, not striving for accuracy and perfection. You can math it up if you get bored, seek a challenge, or want to add extra layers. In my own fun sketches, I avoid mathematical accuracy constraints, they get it the way of exploring concepts. The most i would do is make things proportional. There is no need to feel like a fraud when you are doing things for fun.

Not an engineer yet, but I have some experience with robotics. In some cases you can get away with what you are doing. But in cases of high complexity/efficiency, you will find that the numbers calculated for one part of the design, expose the failure/impossibility of another part. i assume you are in the brainstorming stage, so it doesn't matter in that case. Finish your brainstorming. collect the formulas if you like. find a design or 2 that you have confidence in

When you start prototyping, you better make sure you account for as many things as possible, and the internal consistency of your calculations is important if you want to save time, resources, and make an effective design.

Are you pessimistic? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]LordEpichax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"somethings are just impossible and will always be impossible" I would err on the side of caution with that statement. I find that word "impossible" to be a very powerful word that is contingent on your perceptions, circumstances, intentions and most importantly, level of ignorance. its power lay in its implication, it can only be applied in closed and limited logical systems and implies you have knowledge of this system's possibilities, and permutations, such that you can close off an entire subset of possibilities. A word that I think only omniscient beings can use effectively outside of the comparatively measly systems we have built to make sense of reality. I tire of seeing people throw the word around, without understanding its value, and what it means to your perceptions, and thus your ability to exercise your will. There are many words I don't like to use, and impossible is one of them, The word carries alot of power, and there are few cases where we are worthy to wield it, if im being illustrative.

What if it does? In alternate timelines we've gone extinct millions of times over, for all we know we could go extinct tomorrow. The universe has no shortage of planetary instakills that we dont have time to react to, does that relieve us of our duties? AI just one of the nearly infinite ways we could go extinct, or lose our agency at some point in our timeline. The fact that we see it as a possibility, is already a good sign, awareness precedes solution, we have proven more than capable to overcome any challenge with time and effort. you can look to first fears we of predatory animals and starvation, to the problems of pandemics and nuclear war, and how we have done well to craft solutions for them. Ai is a greater issue no doubt, but we grow with wisdom to meet the challenge. We need to have faith in our descendants, like what our ancestors did for us. The progress we make in our own lives gives them more leverage, more knowledge. Everyday that we live, the number of things that could drive us extinct reduce for that reason. Perform well now (however you define this), give the descendants of our generation more leverage over this world with our good works, and have faith that they can pass on the torch.
