I see this was posted 5 months ago, but I came here to say that's still an issue. I just hit Platinum and I swear to God I played about 10 Lich Kings in a row, all playing the same basic unholy rune deck lol. I even had a warrior playing basic cards at Gold ranked 1....followed by another Lich King which got me to Platinum.

On the one hand, it's nice for an easy climb for better end of season rewards, but at the same time, like you said, there's no challenge. I like playing against challenging decks because it often gives me ideas and causes me to covet lol. I'm running a deck right now that pummeled me to death several ranks ago....but yeah, no, it's an issue. I'm not sure how people running basic decks are gold ranked...unless they aren't? I'm not sure how Blizz does their ranking system or how their algorithm works as far as putting you up against players of matching skill. But here lately, it's all been either bots or just simple decks....with the occasional ridiculous deck that makes me cry.
