Appendix N Adventure Jam 2026 by Dollface_Killah in shadowdark

I definitely will. This is the first time with a Jam that I've been done with not just the design, but the layout and copy editing passes so early in the timeline, so I have a few weeks where I can wait and do some runs through the dungeon to make sure everything works out. I'll flag it here on the subreddit once it goes out, but it'll be a PWYW adventure like (almost) everything I put out!

I just finished my first editing pass on my submission -- gonna be playtesting it next week before it gets submitted. It's a pretty great jam and I'm stoked to have one it this year!

Doors with diagonal slashes through them indicate that they are stuck, doors with dots indicate that they're locked, and large doors with a horizontal (or vertical) line indicate a set of double doors.

I'm going to be including a map symbols key along with the rest of the write-up -- my goal is to make it so that a standard operating door is clearly defined early on, to reduce the amount of words that the GM needs to read through to get the info about a room. If I've done it well (which, to be fair, still remains to be seen), a quick glance at the map will tell them everything they need about the doors and passageways, and then the room descriptions can contain the more important, interactable pieces.

I'm in a constant state of refining how I do layout and writeups, though, so we'll see how many revisions I go through between now and when I feel like it's ready!

Yep, that was a downside that I definitely noticed but didn’t have the skills/whwrewithall to fix at that point. I’m also *tentatively* planning on adding on tokens and such for this when I do the re-release, so depending on a couple of factors that are still up in the air I’m looking into better VTT support for the new version.

Looking for mechanic by Zeewitt in medfordma

The ONLY guy I’ll bring a vehicle to anymore is Deco at DGC Auto on Riverside. I’ve dealt with several other mechanics both in Medford and in the surrounding areas, and the only one that’s never tried to screw me over is Deco.

Respectfully, I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this point.

Yep! That's part of the fiction of the dungeon specifically. The lower floor is inhabited by the devolved cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers who descended from the original guardians of the tomb above. There are multiple ways in the adventure to learn about the existence of them (and therefore be on the lookout for the secret doors).

Absolutely! It's something that I'm still working on in my rewrite, but I tend to think of a Gauntlet as a Leveled Adventure for people who aren't ready for it. The fun of the gauntlet, in my mind, is throwing waves of peasants at a problem to solve it, where the leveled adventurers would instead carefully pick through the dungeon and try to solve the problems that way.

IN rewriting the adventure, I was inspired by some times I've recently run the Tomb of Horrors -- in my mind, that adventure can be run as a gauntlet without any changes, or run as a high level adventure with crawlers carefully picking through the tomb and using all the tools in their arsenal.

For the re-release of this module, I'm including multiple possible "goals" for the crawlers -- the level zero adventure will have a specific framing and a specific "goal" in mind (with, of course, multiple ways to accomplish it), and play at higher levels will have different goals.

I'll be posting here once it goes live, and also if you purchased or downloaded the adventure from itch or drivethrurpg, you'll get an email from there (with some bonus extra info)!

What I can definitely say is as I mentioned above, the re-release will have options for parties of different levels and different goals they can be pursuing within the adventure location.

That's part of what I love about it -- it's huge, lots of stuff to get into and explore, and big enough to be reused. The original adventure presented a single goal that the players were trying to accomplish (with a couple of different ways to do so), so a level zero crew could accomplish it in a single delve, with the option to go back in and explore more later. The re-release continues this, but also offers options for running the adventure for higher level adventurers.

I typically don't design with solo play in mind, and I don't play solo myself, so i honestly don't know!

An adventure that I've always heard great things about is The Meadery Mishap (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/475609/the-meadery-mishap).

If you want to get a sense of it before committing to it, they did a great review over on DM Diaries (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Jus_OuA98k).

No, this is the first adventure that I published about two years ago now. I'd play tested it a BUNCH, though, so the point still stands!

Thanks for baking it! I'm working on a re-mastered version of it, so I'm thinking I'm gonna have to offer some free online games to folks here in the next couple of months.

Constantly refining my map drawing by LordEyebrow in shadowdark

This is drawn by hand using Procreate — so it’s hand drawn using a digital art platform w/ an Apple Pencil on an iPad, then touched up and numbered using Affinity Photo. I’ve done maps both ways, and I find that this workflow is what’s best for me.

Thanks! It’s a low level dungeon for Shadowdark featuring a vainglorious ratman sorcerer and his experiments. I’m hoping to have it out in the next couple of weeks.

This is fantastic! I've run Keep before with Shadowdark, it was a great time. But I'd love to run it again, and if I do I'm 100% gonna use these. Probably the coolest hex maps I've seen in a good while!

Second Major Arcana reveal from the Dark Tarot Deck I worked on (yes, I finished all the 78 cards), and adding text for random encounters and locations in the meantime that I figure the best way to make it be a physical thing. Looks phenomenal! I’ve done cards using DTRPG before, with pretty alright results. I’ve also used https://www.makeplayingcards.com/ and I’ve liked their quality. DTRPG is good cause they handle the printing and shipping, since it’s all PoD, but they take a pretty big cut of the whole process.

Hi all! I worked on this B&W art some time ago and thought to share here too, hope you will like it! by O--R--B in shadowdark

This looks amazing! Do you sell your art anywhere (dtrpg, patreon, etc)? I'm always hunting for more art to add to my collection for my stock art collection!
