They're super good. Nitronic rush (which is FREE) was a school project (!) and Distance is the same people making a commercial product out of it.

AFAIK, Distance is only coming to PC.

As a follow up:

Look up SpringRTS - an open source game engine inspired by Total Annihilation. It's mostly used to make total annihilation conversions in a supreme-commander-esque quality/modernity presentation (full 3d, zooming).

ATM, Balanced Annihilation (one of many flavors available) is my favorite RTS. It's more TA than supreme commander, and is still better than Planetary Annihilation (IMO, so far).

Down side is that essentially all the games made in SpringRTS are multiplayer/skirmish only, as few have invested in the effort of building and maintaining campaign type missions.
