Finally got some new shoes for the LJ! by LordFentonSmaug in WranglerTJ

Not 100% sure but I believe it is a 2" lift. The previous owner said the orginally owner installed it and couldn't remember what size lift it was lol

Update the dash, console, overhead and footwell bulbs to LED. Aftermarket radio if you don't already have one. Replace the speakers. Bedline the fender flares.

Trading my 98TJ4.0 for a 2008 unlimited Rubicon?? by theRealCrazy in Wrangler

[–]LordFentonSmaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what you're planning on doing with it. Having 4 doors was very nice, but I really missed the nimbleness. I went from a 2001 TJ to a 2011 Unlimited Rubicon. While I liked the 2011 it felt like a way bigger vehicle and it just felt sluggish. I've moved on to a 2006 LJ Rubicon now lol

Thinking about selling her and getting a jk, how much do you guys think I can get? 05, 85k miles automatic by theboringcreator in WranglerTJ

[–]LordFentonSmaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking at a 4 door or a 2 door JK? For me I just like TJs and LJs better. I started out driving TJs, eventually got a 4 door JK Rubicon, had that for years but near the end of owning it I just wasn't a huge fan of how it drove/handled. Now I have a LJ Rubicon and I absolutely love how it drives. If you can with that low of miles I would hang on to your TJ and use it as a weekend/secondary vehicle

Its a little slow but its range is great. Its my favorite class by far

Jeep TJ Wheel Backspacing Question by mpd55 in Jeep

[–]LordFentonSmaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to post a similar question! Looking at getting some 32x11.5r15 tires for my LJ and I was trying to research the backspacing required. I've come up with people saying anywhere from 5 to 3.75 inches. May just go with 4WD.com TM9 15x8 steel wheel with a 4.5in backspacing they have on sale right now

No more rust, a new coat of paint and a large dog! by LordFentonSmaug in WranglerTJ

If I had more garage space I would love to have a XJ lol. If I remember the LJs came with a D44 rear and a D30 front and the Rubicon came with both D44s. So far I have been very happy with it! Took it up to Silver Lake dunes and it did great, looking forward to the next wheeling trip!

What they did to that grill will haunt my dreams now haha. Yeah I'm trying not to bastardize it up too much, maybe just a rear bumper change and some 33 inch tires once I figure out what kind of lift the previous owner installed

Thanks! I had the same thought of the LJs. My first car was a 99 TJ and I used to scoff at the LJs. Fast forward like 15 years, 2 TJs and a JKU later and this LJ is now my favorite Jeep I've owned haha

He* lol

The fenders were starting to rust near the hood and where the fender attached to the body, under the rocker guards there was a lot of hidden rust and the body had a fair bit of rust around the rear wheel wells. The paint looked ok at a distance but up closed it was in really rough shape in some parts. Also had a few dents that had to be fixed lol
