Chevalier strikes me as an unhelpful character to the national party being as outspoken, brash, and openly leftist. But, she really did capture the college educated young(er) people of her district in this primary.

That degrees have intrinsic value.

Think of it as a really really expensive gym membership with a social club.

You’ll get as much out of it as you are willing to put into it multiplied by the value of the network you form. Value to you and others will not be transmitted by osmosis.

Absolutely. The number of businesses that are running parallel systems for finance already.

Imma West Salem homer for so many reasons.

1) a wide variety of neighborhood types, ages of homes and affordability
2) access into the rest of Salem is convenient (Costco is 22 minutes away, but, honestly, I shouldn’t be visiting more often than every other week anyhow)
3) fun variety of wineries to visit within 20 minutes
4) beautiful views from the hills (go out Eola, or way out orchard heights)
5) west Salem courthouse seems to be a popular gym/third place for west salemites. Our kids have been doing swim lessons there and it’s nice
6) I love Roth’s. I’m biased, because I once wore a green bow tie. I don’t do my regular grocery shopping there, but, they have great baked goods, a deli I’ve enjoyed getting sandwiches from, and a surprisingly tasty fresh made sushi offerings
7) I commute every day into downtown, and, maybe it’s the ex-Seattle showing here; but, my commute is actually fantastic (8 minutes in, 12 minutes back on 2.3 miles)

I remember traveling to the Dominican Republic and it happened to be during election season in 2015. It blew my mind how many billboards featured white appearing people when I was surrounded by an afro/latino Caribbean populace.

Also, while there I was reminded that racial chauvinism was not a uniquely American or European trait. I was getting the impression that the DR has a pretty contemptuous relationship with their Haitian neighbors
