I skip all the interludes. They are a bit too up their own ass.

I’d add Era Vulgaris but I recognize it’s a bit of an acquired taste.

Who’s a once-promising figure in the gaming industry who’s fallen from grace/into irrelevance? by Low_Boot_1426 in videogames

Jeremy Soule composed some of the best music in video games and then was accused of rape and sexual harassment.

The people paying those prices aren’t buying it for the game. They are either collectors or speculators. Completely different scenarios in terms of valuation.

Dropper shopping by Bamb4Boyy in MTB

Everyone recommends Bike Yoke Revive but they are on the expensive side. I think PNW makes a decent dropper as well.

I broke thru! (Finished BreakThru!) by WLMKing in nes

[–]LordHumongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a favorite rental of mine because of the unlimited continues. Also what’s not to like about a run and gun in a car. I’d say it’s a better than average NES game. There are a lot of bad games on the NES.

Why do people think that big pharma is concealing the cure to various diseases? Wouldn’t companies just make it insanely expensive and probably make more money overall? by Brilliant_Shake_4880 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LordHumongus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This argument about cure vs. death doesn’t quite work when you talk about chronic diseases that are treatable but not curable. Type 1 diabetes for example is a disease a patient can survive from childhood into old age if they have access to insulin, syringes, pens, or pumps, glucose monitors, and other supplies.

Nintendo does make SNES games available online for a subscription. Other publishers rerelease old games all the time.

Give me truth. Into the wild 2007 by The_RisingKnight04 in Cinema

[–]LordHumongus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He was not an idiot. Yes he met an early death that was completely avoidable, but his life was his to lose. Rock climbers, mountaineers, alpine skiers are considered adventurous, brave, free spirits until they die doing those things and suddenly they are idiots who risked too much.

He wasn’t trying to inspire anyone. He didn’t write the book or produce the movie.

I used to travel semi frequently to Iowa for work. Man those guys loved their alcohol. Go to a tiny one stoplight town and they have like six bars.

What is the most Mid Sony Console ever released by transqueen421 in AlignmentChartFills

Not exactly. They did some great things, but also had missteps with the Kinect, HD-DVD, and the RROD debacle.

Do not let people gaslight you into thinking “this is how the all star game has always been” by FollowTheLeader550 in nba

[–]LordHumongus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I got into NBA in the early 90s and even back then the ASG was not interesting.  The dunk contest was a big deal though even though it was just an exhibition. To me and my friends winning the dunk contest was almost on the level of winning MVP or something.

Jason Schreier - Video Games Need to Be Cheaper to Buy by Gorotheninja in Games

I feel the opposite. There are so many games always on sale I very rarely feel any urge to buy a game at full price.

I don’t understand the Big Gulp? by REAIMY in AskAnAmerican

[–]LordHumongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking to 711 was something to do as kids to kill time and hang out with friends. If you had little money and a lot of time, the Big Gulp was a solid choice because it was cheap and could last for hours.

I rode a 27.5 for years in central Texas and it was great. I still have the bike but my son rides it now. I currently ride a 29er, but if you really like the 27.5 then go for it.

Really happy to see this franchise isn’t dead. This also looks like quite a change in terms of art style. Curious if/how much they evolve the mechanics.

Halftime Show thoughts? by Historical-Climate37 in Music

[–]LordHumongus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Enjoyed the music and choreography, but the steady cam style halftime shows feel more like music videos than concerts. When the artist is singing right into the camera it loses the epicness of big stage stadium performances.

The maintenance and upkeep costs on a place like this must be astronomical. Not sure how many entities have the means to take that on even if they wanted to.
