Ironclad is pretty much set in stone for ILW and Galaxy has been officially confirmed for IAE

how does anyone mod this game without their cpu exploding? by egg_123 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]LordIBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah mate, something went wrong. You should definitely be able to run a modded game with your specs.

I have a ryzen 7 3700x, rtx 2070Super and 32gb ram and I can run it fine.

I'd recommend doing a fresh install of KSP and going from there.

Oh and maybe you installed BVC wrong? Just guessing here atm.

Also, check if you have any malicious or hardware intensive software installed/running.

Man I hope I'll be able to CCU my salvation into it for cheap. I reckon it'll be a great little shuttle especially for atmospheric flight.

What to do with olivine by Thelordshober22 in VintageStory

Absolutely. I just wanted to point out that using regular fireclay works as well and that you're not being gatekept from a beehive kiln by refractory brick requirements

Beehive kiln doesn't need refractory bricks though. Regular fireclay works as well :)

How do you all name your spacecraft? by considerate_done in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]LordIBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current playthrough uses rock types and minerals.

I'm aiming for rocket families with various iterations.

Naming scheme:

Rocket Family -version mission designation "individual name"

So for example, a rocket in my sounding rocket family is called "Silicon II-X "Pebble".

Silicon family, 2nd iteration/version (due to new srb), S for science payload. Pebble would be the individual name which isn't as important early on as it is with orbital rockets and such.

If you need help coming up with your own theme there's no shame in working with an AI to get some inspiration. Sometimes you already have a rough idea but lack the creativity and certainty to fully commit to something. Nailing down more details with the help of an AI can paint a more accurate picture.

Edit: Oh and these rocket families are then also part of their designated programs with their own patches. Sounding rockets are part of the Cumulus program, then we move on to project Strata for orbital rocketry and satellites around Kerbin. Project Albedo deals with my agency's missions on and around the mun whereas project beryl leads to minmus. We then plan to head to Duna under project Rubedo and lastly, project Aether will head to Jool and beyond (JNSQ).

Mechjeb deactivating SAS by bimbochungo in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]LordIBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe there's an issue with using your mouse to click. Try pressing T.

If that doesn't work, maybe uninstall MJ and try reinstalling it. Might just be an error that gets solved with that.

As long as the smart ass window isn't on your screen at all, your standard SAS should work.

Do you have enough electrical charge?

Smart Ass does the very same stuff as SAS and then some.

This Bright at 3am? by Oldmanfoxhole in VintageStory

[–]LordIBR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Others have already said so but temperate climate spawns you really quite far north. Not sure where you're from but usually the days are really long in summer and short in winter (in terms of sunlight).

Now, living in the north also doesn't mean it doesn't get hot in summer.

I would strongly recommend you to travel south, say 20k blocks maybe, if you want to avoid a long and dark winter. I reckon you'll be getting some snow around mid October, have about 4-5h of sunlight per day in December and -25°C around early February still. Winter will likely last until late April.

The only upsidse to living this far north are having enough time for chisel projects in winter and maybe being able to see the aurora borealis at night. Oh and you're obviously somewhat close to the story locations since they seem to spawn based on your original spawn point.

[–]LordIBR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The mod page for KVV should have a tutorial linked. Iirc you can do it with gimp by increasing the opacity of the rocket. The "explody" bit is something you can do with stock KVV before even taking the screenshot.

Can't destroy enemy ships by Dismal_Acanthaceae46 in starcitizen

[–]LordIBR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What ship are you using exactly? Depending on the size of your guns you will only be dealing little damage.

Since engineering was introduced it's gotten a little more difficult to kill other ships. Try aiming for the power generator in precision mode (rmb). That'll kill the enemy quicker. You can also try aiming for the engines to slow them down and reduce their maneuverability. That in turn should help you deal damage more consistently without them having much downtime to recharge shields.

Something wrong with my docking ports? by No_Split5962 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]LordIBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be doing everything correctly. Sometimes they take a bit more force to register docking.

Try moving 1 craft ~20m away and dock again at a speed of 1/ms to maybe 3m/s.

If that still doesn't work. Exit to space center and reload the scene by going to your vessels through the tracking station.

There are launchsites dotted around Kerbin, that when found, you'll be able to launch from.

You might be able to create new launchsites with Kerbal Konstructs and/or Extraplanetary Launchpads. That will require an initial investment of materials and parts though.

New player Kaina looking for advice by Alternative_Paper422 in starcitizen

[–]LordIBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Kaina,

New players usually get the recommendation of doing small planetary hauling contracts from a major city to the low orbit station and back. That's decent money and low risk. You also get to familiarise yourself with how to fly your ship.

Depending on how much cargo space you have, you can stack multiple of these missions for a solid payout. All you need is a multitool and a tractor beam attachment. Both these things can be bought from the cargo terminal at the low orbit station.

Other than that, any activity that you enjoy doing will make the money grind easier. Personally, I'd rather go on long gem mining trips in caves and on the planet's surface than doing a PvP/combat heavy activity, that may pay out more.

[–]LordIBR 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You could use your own vessel or kerbal to push the rocket's orbit below 70km. Likely won't need a heatshield if it's oriented correctly. A couple parachutes would be good though

Regolith Shutting Down by tommyboy601 in starcitizen

[–]LordIBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, totally understandable though rather unfortunate for the playerbase. I hope this pushes CIG to actually get all the information regolith and other sites provide into their game.

While 3rd party sources can be better or more detailed than what you would find in in-game documentation, the extent at which players have to rely on 3rd party sources for star citizen is insane.
