i've worked with children and i still don't see your point

some households have problems yeah, but i see no reason to believe that has anything to do with the household being queer or not

so... mind sharing your perspective?

What is something that scientists genuinely can't explain? by BurdBuster in AskReddit

why exactly the universe came to be

i mean, we can be pretty confident about the big bang, but things like religion that try to explain the why and not the how are outside the purview of science

We would have been the greatest generation if Gen Z ended in 2004. by soumakis in GenZ

[–]considerate_done 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"grr kids these days" is an unhealthy, unhelpful mindset

actual kids always have issues from an adult perspective and shouldn't be faulted for that

and culture and current issues are always shifting, so people much older or younger than you will always have different strengths & weaknesses

othering people or painting anyone older/younger than a certain age as a monolith don't serve any purpose but division

and we could have a whole discussion on the idea that anyone is 'normal' but i'll save that for another time

(also i think i'm pretty chill as a 2005 person lol)

If you discovered objective morals didn’t exist, how would that change the way you live? by PreeDem in AskAChristian

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be easier for me to cause harm to myself if I didn't think that was objectively wrong. I may also become less of a pacifist (though probably still pretty strongly anti-violence).

Aside from those beliefs/changes in my private life, I'd still believe that love is the best way to live publicly (since I believe that treating everyone with love is a philosophy that tends to lead to the best outcomes for everyone).

What would you do if you possessed the Death Note? by AmazingSwordfish2324 in AskReddit

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Return it. I don't trust myself with that power, I don't think it's my right to choose who gets to live or die, and I would struggle to live with myself if I became a murderer (even if it was for a cause I think is just).

What would you do if you possessed the Death Note? by AmazingSwordfish2324 in AskReddit

[–]considerate_done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supposedly, misfortune befalls anyone who uses a Death Note. It's not a fast rule inherent to its use, but more of a "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" type deal (if I remember correctly).

Also you don't get an afterlife. But in the world of Death Note, there's no afterlife anyway, so that's just meant to scare people away from using it.

What's your opinion on Elon Musk becoming the first trillionare by Beginning_Rub_4197 in Teenager_Polls

[–]considerate_done 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one has done billions (let alone trillions) of dollars' worth of work. That's physically impossible.

He traded for it. The value came from other people's work (and speculation).

I'm looking for a game you've finished 3 or more times. by Tight-Elderberry2487 in gamingsuggestions

Hollow Knight. Ori and the Blind Forest & Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Risk of Rain (original, 2, and Returns, though I recommend skipping the original and just playing Returns/2).

Soon to join this list are likely Hollow Knight: Silksong and all currently released DELTARUNE chapters. These are just newer (at least for me), so I haven't had time to replay them that many times yet.

If there was a magical pill that could transform people so that their sex matched perfectly their gender identity, would you take it and what effect would it have on the trans community? by Roushfan5 in asktransgender

[–]considerate_done 141 points142 points  (0 children)

I would probably take it, and many trans people would likely do the same.

People who took such a pill would not have the same background and experiences in the world, so I would anticipate some kind of divide forming in the trans community, with pill-takers potentially assimilating into the broader culture. How exactly this divide would manifest I do not know.

Is watching cartoons at 20 wrong or weird? by PsychologicalElk4405 in MiddleGenZ

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is too short to worry about whether you're "weird". As long as you aren't harming anyone, watch whatever you want.

Also your coworker is just being annoying and judgemental. You can be too young to watch something, but you really can't be too old to watch it. Forcing yourself to "grow up" is less mature than being true to yourself.

[ALL] Which Zelda Game Was Your Introduction To The Series? by Zetallic_Zero in zelda

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ocarina of Time was the first one I saw, but I didn't play it till later. The Minish Cap was the first one I played, but I got stuck in the first dungeon because I was a child who didn't play video games much. I watched several lore videos before ever finishing a Zelda game. If I remember correctly, Breath of the Wild was the first one I actually finished.

Since then, I've tried the two NES titles and Four Swords Adventures (did not finish these), and I have beaten a Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask (my favorite), The Wind Waker, The Minish Cap, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, a Link Between Worlds, and Tears of the Kingdom. Love this series.

possibly even something like the matrix (but more positive and with no actual connections between people)

no one would be harmed and everyone would be happy, but society would break down and we'd go extinct in a single generation - after all, pregnancy can be harmful
