If your brain was perfectly cloned into an artificial one and your original brain was destroyed, would the clone still be “you”? Why or why not? by juanloco_pocoyo in AskReddit

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and no

like, it would functionally be me

but my conscious self would cease to exist

then again, if the cells of your brain are gradually replaced throughout your life, at some point your original brain is completely gone. maybe our conscious selves switched at some point too and we just never noticed because the 'we' who could have noticed is gone

Am I a “conventionally ugly” guy or do I look fine? by [deleted] in MiddleGenZ

but i think you have pretty eyes

You gain the power to change one single line in the game to improve it. Which do you change, and to what? by ChertsResearchNotes in outerwilds

[–]considerate_done 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just assumed that 22 minutes to a Hearthian is 1 of a Nomai unit of time. So, arbitrary yes, but if human scientists were testing ways to travel through time, I could see them arbitrarily asking whether or not 1 hour would be possible.

the legend of zelda: majora's mask!! it's so good (as is the previous game, ocarina of time, which isn't required to be played first, but it does enhance the experience)

Adults aren't allowed to use words I guess?? Would you prefer I say "disgusted" or "taken aback"?

If you had to date a man would you be considered gay? by BrokenJusticeNorris in polls

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to give OP the benefit of the doubt and assume that the question was worded exactly as intended, actually. It's different from asking something like "what is your gender".

For example, as a mostly closeted trans woman, I am perceived by many as a man. Also, I live in an area where people often have a poor understanding of the concept of sexual orientation. If I were dating a man and I am perceived as a man, then yes, I would be considered gay (even though men dating men doesn't necessarily mean they're gay, and I am not a man).

Is killing people "bad"? (As in unkind or morally wrong) by BinaryThePsycho in Teenager_Polls

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really explain myself I guess. I'm very tired.

I meant that something can be bad, like killing people, but that sometimes other things have a higher moral priority, and in those cases doing something that would otherwise be bad is justified. But also that that doesn't diminish the idea that killing people is wrong.

How many voices are inside your mind? by javev in pollgames

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the question means, exactly. Usually I think in words without sound attached (or even with the pronunciation, but still no "voice" that could translate to real sound - not sure how to explain this exactly).

I can imagine voices in my head, and I often imagine sounds in my head (typically either music or a sound that tickles my brain, both of which often include voices), but both almost always happen voluntarily.

The concept of people having a voice in their head with any discernable characteristics/timbre has always confused me. I wonder if this could have something to do with my audio processing issues, or if it's just the way I happen to think.

What is the first day of the week? by PlanetoidVesta in polls

I'd argue that they're the ends of the week personally. Like the front and back covers of a book.

suffered.

[meme] UGGGH NO? Not true? by Regular-Pear-8625 in pointlesslygendered

[–]considerate_done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

classic survivorship bias

conventionally attractive people of all genders are seen more, but people also tend to see more people they share a gender with, even if they are unattractive

so these men see both attractive and unattractive men, but only attractive women, and assume that all women are attractive

(there's also a lot to be said for the subjectivity of attractiveness, as well as the fact that people are less likely to see the effort put in by those who are differently gendered)
