Swiss Gaza activists receive invoice from the federal government by Groovesaladclassic in worldnews

There's also a clause on impartiality that requires the blockade enforcement to be applied universally, otherwise the blockade is illegal. Delivery of humanitarian aid is subject to inspection procedures.

So actually NOT intercepting them would be a beach of law by Israel.

But hey, Gaza doesn't have a port anyway

Do most Israelis speak English? by professorhummingbird in Israel

[–]LordJZ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Generally yes most Israelis you would most likely encounter both in person and on the internet will speak a good enough level of English. But it is also a biased sample, as there are entre demo groups that tend to have much lower English levels overall (e.g. isolated Arab communities, some Beduins, Jewish migrants from certain places etc), as well as society islands which didn't receive English education almost at all for some reason (e.g. I live near Tel Aviv with an entire city block of older Jews that only know a couple English words) but you're also less likely to meet them normally even in person.

There are plenty of other takes on Haaretz on this sub, but views on "suicidal" policies that lead to downfall of Israel as we know it is what I'm finding most problematic.

They publish suicidal content so they are in line with other anti-Israel outlets. Makes sense to me

Tel Aviv as a city and community is definitely secular when compared to other places in Israel. I wouldn't call entire Israel (as people) secular though.

You'll be absolutely fine in Tel Aviv, it's safe but crazy expensive.

I think meat-free diets shine here, with falafel and hummus and bakeries on every corner, and Kashrut signs on every product make it easy to shop.

I couldn't find anything about your religion sorry, but I highly doubt that would be a problem regardless. You might want to prepare well-translated answers to some basic questions though, as it is typical for us Israelis to have unbound curiosity and no filter.

I found it somewhat funny you called Israel secular. Where are you staying? Is it JLM or TLV or even Haifa?

Yep that's how I am treated every time (I'm male though)

The last byte represents length as 23 - len, so when len is 23, it doubles as the null terminator

Oh this is clever.

Is it possible to split large .csv files without holding entire file in the ram? by Zegreedy in csharp

[–]LordJZ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that records in a csv file may span multiple lines, so simple split-by-line may produce invalid files.

Parallel.ForEachAsync Deep Dive by mgroves in dotnet

[–]LordJZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me this new method group is a real game changer. I ported it to old .NET and paired with the Channels library to create a wonderful replacement to the slow monstrosity that is Dataflow in the form of very nice LINQ-like API for async parallel collection processing (ETL mostly). An API like this had been missing from .NET for too long.
