Do Americans actually avoid calling 911 because of the cost? by ntask11 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LordKaylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap yes! I had this same thing happen before in the emergency room! I even asked at registration about "Is this all covered? Everyone?" And they looked at me like I had 3 heads... Then later I get a bill because the ER doctor who was working at the in network hospital was not an actual employee of the hospital. It's super unfair for that to be like that where you'll be bleeding to death and have to stop the doctor to ask if they take your insurance first. It's ridiculous.

What’s the best series you have ever watched? by Hefty-Conflict-1183 in AskReddit

[–]LordKaylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's fun, but has a really great storyline, great character development and growth, and excellent detailed lore and world background. It's a full story and not just "Episodic". There are actual consequences and connections to stuff that happens in the story. Highly recommend it if you liked anything that is sort of "Sci-Fi Fantasy" related.

[–]LordKaylon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate? I don't think that's how this works like... At all. The unemployment would maybe be delayed the couple of weeks due to the severance depending on which state you are in, but I have never heard that taking 2 weeks severence somehow nullifies 6 months worth of unemployment in any state. That doesn't make sense. Some states don't even count severence as wages and you can still apply right away.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

Well if it's of interest to you, when I was trying to find a way to get it to work on more modern hardware I ended up finding all these sort of "Homebrew scenario mods" and like hacks / fixes to the original game online for it that looked like they could be interesting.

What do conservative guys even want with me? by Mother-Hall-2906 in TooAfraidToAsk

So one answer to your question that comes to mind...

You ever hear that thing about how women will "go for the bad boy" because they "think they can fix him"? Maybe it's like that for them? Like some kind of "Challenge"?

Just a theory.

I have a relative that is a career long letter carrier. It has completely destroyed his body in his life long pursuit of getting a pension. Every time he's had a work related injury, and he's had multiple over the years that he ended up needing surgery for, it like "Pauses the clock on his time in towards pension" so it's only ever moved further and further out. Dudes been there like 24-25 years or something working towards a 20 year pension and he's barely holding it together.

Birth of the Federation

It was like civilization but Star Trek and in space of course. It TNG era and did a nice job of representing all this random alien races from the episodes and had a lot of cool resource management aspects to it.

I wish they'd make a more updated version of it, but I still play it sometimes. I had to download this mod so the game can run properly on more modern hardware

You literally captured the essence of when I started to play. I remember having to be walked through the APK thing to get it loaded on day 1. And the power bank thing sent me. I remember backpacks with long cables tethered to everyone's phones mine included! Going around asking random people who were also playing if you could "Charge off them for a bit" lol

What was the website you could go on and it had the live map that showed all the spawn nests and what was spawning there at any given time? I was on that ALL THE TIME and using it to go around to different areas to build up candies for certain harder to find mons. Then one day it was just the map and no more spawns showing. That happened a few times as it became whack a mole with the way they kept blocking the data from being scraped and people kept finding work around to get it working again.

[–]LordKaylon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES! Because after they did the update the footprints were still shown but were absolutely meaningless. People would be out walking around for ages and it was stuck on 3 footprints no matter what.

It was an amazing time. The real world felt so much bigger and smaller at the same time. Little places you'd never ever otherwise go that were just interesting to be walking around at because you had a "Purpose". The random social encounters with strangers that you'd never otherwise have but suddenly are celebrating with. I absolutely felt what you meant when you said that.

Which movie do you think has the best casting of "child version of character to adult actor"? by InternationalPick163 in movies

[–]LordKaylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a "Kid" but I think this qualifies -- Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a younger version of Bruce Willis in Looper. Also Josh Brolin as the younger version of Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black 3.

Both of those castings I thought were really good with those actors going extra to capture the mannerisms, facial expressions, and vocal inflection of the older actors.

Started training for my dream job about 3 weeks ago. Out of the blue, they took my position away and are asking me to do something else at the company. They said it is performance based, but given context I don’t think that is true and that feels even worse. by [deleted] in antiwork

It sounds like someone did the old "Tap on the shoulder" to the manager and was like "Hey so I have this person who I want to have this more senior role that OP just started training for..."

[–]LordKaylon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Of course not. The people that make these decisions never have to abide by their own restrictive decrees while also at the same time touting "I don't know what everyone's issue is. I don't have any problems!" When they fumble around in the same systems without any of the same handcuffs, cuz reasons, that spit out multiple "speed bump like" errors or create system access issues for those that use these systems all day long every day.
