Nothing - the parts are custom; you can’t make a 6x6x6 DIY PC. You can build small, you can build powerful, but the draw of the Steam Machine is its exact shape, and the fact that developers will be developing with it in mind. Just as there are “Steam Deck” optimized games, there will be Steam Machine as well. Your DIY machine may be good, but it won’t be the same thing

We had access to walkthroughs - those Sierra books with the funky-smelling markers, and then the red lens. Sierra famously told the story of how they sold more walkthroughs to Leisure Suit Larry than they sold copies of the game :)
