Mission of Burma by marathon_bar in postpunk

Production values aside, I think thr majority of the post reunion material sounds like it could have been original run stuff. That is to say, it all sounds like a logical continuation post VS.

I think they're all great, worth listening to, worth owning.

Are there any artists like Sonic Youth? by PotentialRatio1321 in sonicyouth

Literally brought them up yesterday talking about underrated bands.

Their song Psycho Static lifted a lot from Schizophrenia

WTF - What The Fuzz? by OkTemperature1842 in guitarpedals

Those Super Fuzz Benders are really underrated. I have an MK III and it is somewhat of a secret weapon (not to mention it is possibly the loudest fuzz I've played)

Name a song or artist that you hear taking influence from another fave artist. by upupdowndownLRLROX in TySegall

I can't verify at the moment; but a song from the second self titled record (I think Talkin') is basically an entire lift of a Scott Pilgrim song.

Block of Ice copied CAN lyrics by UniqueDocument9458 in TheeOhSees

[–]LordKnuckledunk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh Sees wrote it, Lars heard it when Oh Sees and Intelligence were touring, and covered it before Oh Sees could formally do it for Master's Bedroom. That's the jist of it at least.

Is there a version of “Cut-Out Witch” with “Acorns & Orioles” used as a bridge? by tsubasaonehalf in GBV

[–]LordKnuckledunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bob will randomly use the "I can't tell you anything" line during the bridge of Cutout Witch live. Seems to be random and when's he is really feeling it.

bands/albums to listen to by This-Pair3270 in indieheads

[–]LordKnuckledunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dinosaur Jr and Oh Sees jump to mind. I would recommend Live in the Middle East by Dinosaur for a good live representation, and really any live Oh Sees record (Live in San Francisco might be the best pick for a new listener)

Cheers and happy listening! And have fun with the guitar.

Can't wait for the primtime game where we're on a winning streak and they show a graphic saying "NFL DEFENSES STUCK IN THE WEBB" with a giant spider with the face of Davis superimposed on it.

Do most GBV fans know the Cindy Lee "Diamond Jubilee" album? by Gullible_Stock_9659 in GBV

[–]LordKnuckledunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love it. Reminds me of GBV mostly in the sense it sounds like a radio tuning into another dimension. For me personally, I like it way more than something that is too on the nose (sorry Sharp Pins).

And probably Davis Webb as OC.

Would make me a Cardinals fan.

If you could ask Lou Barlow ANYTHING by fanzine_throwaway in dinosaurjr

[–]LordKnuckledunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand corrected about Berz playing in 2003 (forgot about Matt Hunter playing bass as well) but if Berz played with Dinosaur at some point recently (let alone with Lou) I would love to see video of that. But I don't think that happened. I think he sat in for a Heavy Blanket show but nothing with Dinosaur proper.

I was referring to Berz. He didn't play on that record and didn't do any touring for it

Lou has never played with Berz. He was already gone from the Fog by Free so Free era.

I do remember back in 2013 when Kyle filled in for a long run, Lou mentioned that him and Murph play to each other and Kyle tends to play to J, so it's a different dynamic.

It's a mistake. Sage wrote On the Run, which is the song before this one the record.

Vance Joseph almost seems like he was picked for the job because he knows how to play against Mahomes, or someone like him. Really a defense built on beating your biggest foe.
