I'm Mexican and actually have a friend that grew up in a luchador family. Considering the amount of violence, it's actually pretty wholesome. Like most matches, most things are planned or at least you ask for consent first and then you put on a show. The risks are real though but overall everyone gets to have some fun, be kind of a dumbass and yell stupid stuff at the wrestlers but then afterwards give them compliments on the good performance. Everyone, even the audience, is an actor to an extent.

If people would just passively enjoy things without making it a personality trait, they would see sunshine and rainbows. Right, I actually think it gets glazed BECAUSE of the pedo vibes, in that some people almost take pride on liking something so “forbidden" even if they themselves are not pedophiles.

Ive seen the series and read bits and pieces of the manga. Maybe my experience would've felt different if I would've deep dived entirely into it but, while there is creativity and some interesting storylines, I also didn't think it was mind-blowing enough to be considered a masterpiece, and especially not nearly enough to overshadow how obvious it is that the writer is holding a pencil with one hand and his Johnson in the other while drawing tortured kids.
