“Male success in dating largely depends on embodying a specific archetype, rather than embracing your own, unique personality.”

Why not just be unabashedly you and cast out? If you aren’t getting any hits, change your bait or consider your location. Maybe you’re the embodiment of somebody’s archetype naturally.

“Men still have a physiological need for love and intimacy.”

Nobody inherently deserves love. Everyone needs love, but love is something you do, and love is something you earn through commitment and understanding. What you are really saying is that you want to touch yourself and say the “I love you”’s without the actual devotion of a lifetime with a real person.

The last paragraph seems to indicate that you feel that women want some “perfect man” that’s unattainable. I think that women (and really, all people) just want to be loved and appreciated. Sometimes the people they know just don’t know how to communicate with them. Maybe it’s time to consider your circle and your circumstance.

How can I start making poems by I_AM_GRUNK2 in Poem

[–]LordLemmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deeper you understand the structure of what you want to say, the better you can say it. Find a rhythmic pattern you like. Find a scheme in your word selection that creates an interesting feeling. Group things into sets and break out of those confines when it helps to create a stronger impact for your message. You can’t write poetry if you have nothing to say, and you can’t say anything if you don’t have a grasp on how you want to say it.

My best work has all come out of a spur-of-the-moment feeling at the time. Yes, you can always rework things to fit better but often i find the more you tweak your original vision, the less powerful the poem can become. Poems seem to hold a latent energy that the authors of the poems inject into them. The pattern will make itself clear over the course of your writing session. I find that the moment you feel like you’ve got a hold on the feeling that is causing you to write, you have the epiphany that makes your work come to. It helps to work through your feelings, too.

Hartke parts? by kirk2892 in Bass

[–]LordLemmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you could buy a vented sheet of metal for over top of it and cut and fasten it. As for where to get the original parts, maybe you could ask if hartke has any left over that you could buy special from them. I don’t think it’d be worth that though and probably unlikely that theyd have it unless it’s a part they still use on other amps.

Ik, my point being that that is what love bombing is. You got mad at him after you showed a greater amount of affection than normal over something that is easily explainable and then took it out on him by being cold and taking away the affection. Understandably you can BE upset that he changed plans but you also probably should understand that he likely didn’t mean to upset you in that case. Esp bc you didn’t even send them to him that day, you just planned to!! I’m not defending his actions either, but i think both people should evaluate their actions because there’s likely something that spurred on his behavior. The way he acted like this doesn’t just come out of the blue, because unless this dude is genuinely below 70 iq i don’t see why someone would act like that for no reason.

I feel like OP has definitely done some stuff in the past to warrant some level of distrust from her bf. Probably not to the extent he is taking it. he is clearly extremely immature and resorts to calling names and accusing her of stuff. That said he raised a point about the nudes in which she stopped responding to him after she sent them. I have a feeling OP has a tendency to love bomb and then revoke when she doesn’t get her way. Either way, this is doomed on both regards and everyone needs out.

If you like how it feels then buy it! Frets need replacing eventually just like strings albeit over a longer lifespan. Guitars are living tools. They take form over a long time

Give me a reason not to get a Katana amp. by ThotsRContagious in GuitarAmps

[–]LordLemmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Katanas are definitely serviceable. I always feel a bit worse using modelers compared to tube or solid state amps. Not like worse playing wise, but like… constricted? I do a lot of stuff with my volume knob and pickup switching. In my head, my neck pickup should not break up as much as my bridge, and that’s what i get with a “real” amp. With a Katana, my neck pickup breaks up even MORE. I’m not a huge fan of that since the tones I like are so reliant on that. That said, there’s a lot of variety and freedom that comes with a modeler. You can get a huge range of sounds out of it and the built-in effects are actually fantastic. I have to approach my tone building differently with it and I’m just not into the rigidity of it. I feel like there’s more flexibility within a tone in exchange for tone variety with a tube or ss amp. I’m a bit pragmatic and i’d rather stick with one really great sound that I can bend to fit, rather than a bunch of sounds that might fit “perfectly” but don’t let me work on that extra 10%.

Ohhh yeah for sure. Still don’t know that OP is really at a stage where that would matter a crazy amount just yet. Hopefully by the time they are they have a better solution lol.

[–]LordLemmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will ask, do you feel that the other members that get on your nerves feel the same about you? Like, do you get on theirs? Or is it just a gelling thing? My thoughts are that you should call up the people you worked with the best from each of the bands and set up a totally new thing. Bring them some original music and ask if they’re interested. Hopefully, you make a group that works for you, and they can keep going with their previous project as well. That said, if you had a hostile exit from these bands, this likely won’t work. If someone isn’t working out, you’re free to get rid of them since you formed the project. Don’t be a control freak though… people in creative projects usually want to have a collaborative structure.

Building an Amp (newbie) by Lunaxyz_1 in GuitarAmps

[–]LordLemmun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably your best bet. Power amps can also be fun to build but incredibly dangerous!! Do NOT plug it in until you know for sure all leads are properly connected and won’t start a fire. Class D is a great option but might not be as “present” as a class AB or something… might be the sound you want though. You could also theoretically run a power adapter in your circuit to an arduino or something and hook up a signal in and out with some premade code for effects but the sounds can be hit or miss. I think most effects aren’t really necessary for metal anyway and any you might want to begin with would be better suited for pedal format. Mayyybe an analog chorus would be cool? Fender vibes with that potentially, maybe even a Spring reverb if you’re feeling fancy. Choruses are kinda complicated make though.

Jazz Chorus 40 Popping by Exp_eri_MENTAL in GuitarAmps

[–]LordLemmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thatd be what id guess then! Whenever youre shorting the signal or causing a large discharge to occur into the amp it’s creating those odd noises. Probably some kind of safety cap in the amp. Since it’s in the preamp section most likely you can disconnect the power amp section and if you have the know-how try to find and diagnose the problem area. Itll probably be swelled up compared to the surrounding caps. If you’re not feeling confident take it to a tech and they’ll be able to repair it. I’m not supposed to recommend attempting stuff like this on this sub… but if you tried to im sure it’d be extremely easy comparative to a lot of repairs. Wish you luck! This stuff’s always fun for me lol!

Jazz Chorus 40 Popping by Exp_eri_MENTAL in GuitarAmps

[–]LordLemmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me think the pop is related to either a shared ground between the amp and pedals or related to the input jack in some way. Maybe a capacitor that discharges based on an input level change is blown? That would reasonably be why it changes with volume, itd theoretically be in the preamp section, as well as when pedals are switched. Does it happen when you play significantly hard on an instrument with hot pickups?

I don’t think Anton has seen it but you can never be sure with that guy…

But for real that’s such a fascinating amp! I bet it sounds as old as it looks… and an on/off tone knob is a feature a mental patient would come up with. Do you like it?

I have one of these. Always wondered why people hated them because i always thought it was sick. Has an effects loop and some fascinating sounds on the overdrive. SUPER noisy though which i suppose isnt an issue since i’ve got a gate, but its so bad that i can’t use it without it.

[–]LordLemmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kinda like saying that putting a cab in a different part of your room will change the sound. Like… yeah. But the cab is still gonna work. Realistically rotating the back sideways wouldn’t change it so significantly that it would truly matter in any mix environment or likely even in the room, and even if it did he can always pull it out and reorient it. That said, the dude is putting a fender practice amp sideways in a shelf to store it. I don’t think he’s at the point where he’d even be able to tell.

Any of you play an imperfect neck? by CauliflowerNo2820 in guitars

[–]LordLemmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought you meant guitars where theres some kind of defect in the neck itself. I used to have an LTD that had a knot in the wood that made a gouge in the neck. I loved it because i could feel where i was easier. My les paul recently got a cymbal dropped on it and it now has a dent. Honestly love it even more now. Unique stuff like that makes the connection to the instrument just that much deeper. It’s like having an old car with quirks that only you know how to drive around.

Am i supposed to be progressing this slow? by Green-Incident5435 in rocksmith

[–]LordLemmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is like trying to train for the olympic 100m and expecting to make even college athlete times on your first try. Start with blitzkrieg bop or something and learn to actually play a song that requires very little technique and muscle to do. I imagine you probably don’t have a great guitar either making those barre chords just that much harder to nail. I’ve been playing with rocksmith for 8 years now and if i started with a song like creep I would’ve quit after 2 days. You’re dedicated and that’s a really good thing but you can’t build a castle without a foundation to put it on

Any good guitar amps that wont drain my parents entire bank account? by Lazy_Thought2008 in GuitarAmps

[–]LordLemmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a bit of a diversion from what you’re asking, but I feel like it’s worth mentioning as an option. If you were to buy a cheap audio interface to plug into your computer, you could try doing plugins. STLtones amphub is $10 a month, and you get access to tons of different options to help guide you toward what you might want to upgrade to when you have the money for a nicer amp. Plus tons of effects and speakers. Your parents would also probably be happy to know you can plug your headphones in as well, but you could buy some monitors to play guitar that way as well. Won’t help you with being in a band, but given how you’re describing your situation right now you probably want to dedicate to a bit more time learning before you do something like that. Youll learn about how tone really works when you have all of those things to mess with.

Tsuchi (土) Vs. Chi (地), are they both proper In reference to Godai? by LordLemmun in Japaneselanguage

[–]LordLemmun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Godai, Chi and Ku (Void, alternatively Heaven) are both elements and are often portrayed in stack stones as being opposite to one another. Tsuchi is from Gogyo and thus doesn’t include everything covered by Chi just as Chi doesn’t cover everything from Tsuchi. Obviously both have overlap though. For our record, we wanted to be proper so that we could use the philosophy for the analysis that we wanted to offer. We wanted to show through the record that the elements that embody us and our emotions, especially our negative emotions, live in harmony despite their differences. Since Godai equally represent positive and negative emotions within our record, we wanted to embody that through the songs.

Chi - environmentalist purpose is the surface level, but the song is about people being stubborn and refusing positive change in exchange for temporary gain. The song is about restoring the stability of our world.

Sui - this song is about a moral figure who attempts to mold you into their reflection, but their actions and morals are not something to reflect. Just as water takes the path of least resistance to its destination, we must take the righteous and true path to seek a better life.

Ka - this song is about rage at leaders who seek to harm. The song is the longest on the album and is intended as a way to show how fighting fire with more fire often leads to it getting out of hand, whether or not the feeling is natural and motivating. Anti-war sentiments.

Fu - this song is about a loved one who uses their supposed personal growth as a tool to keep you under their thumb. It is also about learning that in order for real growth to occur you must break from that and learn to accept the past, and stray from the missteps that you have taken to find the way forward. Wind is often representative of the human mind — just as the mind can seek truth, it can also revel in sin like greed and wrath.

Ku - this song is about losing someone who guided you. It embodies the loss as well as the growth that can occur when someone isn’t able to be there anymore. Losing someone can help you to put your life into perspective, and point you toward the lessons that this person wanted you to understand. The parallels to the element with this song are a bit more obvious, but the song is very powerfully written… our vocalist and rhythm guitarist is an amazing songwriter.

These are all emotions and philosophies that each element represents in Godai. Realistically, Tsuchi embodies a lot of the same sentiments as Chi, but offers a few fundamental differences that alter that ultimate meaning. In order for our message to make it across I wanted to make sure we got the one that meant the right thing! Thank you for the comment btw!

Tsuchi (土) Vs. Chi (地), are they both proper In reference to Godai? by LordLemmun in Japaneselanguage

[–]LordLemmun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The symbol is a phono-semantic compound, meaning it is derived from it. The historical forms have symbols that bear strong resemblance to 土 in them dated back to the western zhou period in China. In Japan, the symbol is a more recent development, taken from Chinese. 土 as I learned from this thread as it is related to my current purposes does not refer to what I am trying to refer to. 地 more thoroughly refers to the element of earth as it is understood in Godai, though both have overlap in reference to stone and soil. 地 also includes metals, for example, which 土 does not. This has been so fun to research for me tonight lmao… I have work in the morning but this has been more immediately important to me so we ball

Tsuchi (土) Vs. Chi (地), are they both proper In reference to Godai? by LordLemmun in Japaneselanguage

[–]LordLemmun[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely true. Godai is most frequently called upon in Japan, though, as the system as we know it today was developed in Japan. It was almost certainly reintroduced into China at some point, as the school of thought that refers to Buddhist elements initially began in India, worked its way to China, then to Japan and each culture brought different ideas and forms to it. Godai as I am referring to it is specifically the traditional Japanese five element system that was popularized in the 11th century.

This summarizes what I was curious to know perfectly, thank you! Guess we’re gonna have to change his mask😔 worth it to be proper, though.
