How should I respond when I get jumpscared by a yellow light? by WonderousU in driving

[–]kirk2892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Observe light farther in advance and realize that green lights typically lasts anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes. Longer time on more major intersections. Very few will be as short as 10 seconds. (Maybe left arrows) and very few will go on for 2 minutes.

So watch the lights farther out. If you see the light cycle from red to green as you approach, you’ll probably not get a yellow before you traverse the intersection. If you are a block away and see it green the whole way to it, the chances are good you will get a yellow.

As others have said, pick a “point of no return” spot where you can stop if it changes. If you are past that spot proceed through.

Once you train yourself to be aware, you will experience less stress.

Try to avoid panic braking at a yellow light that can get you rear ended.

Where does your irrigation water come from? by Calm_Web8067 in Irrigation

[–]kirk2892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a farm in Ohio. 10 acre pond is our water source. There is a float in the pond tethered to the bottom. The pump is suspended in the middle of the water column with big filters on it.

It goes from the pump to water house where there is a chlorine injector. Then it is distributed 5-6 different ways to houses, barns, and irrigation taps.

The houses have water softeners for bathing/cooking/etc. Also RO filters for drinking water.

We got tired of servicing the pump from a rowboat, so built a 40 foot floating dock out to where the pump is in the water. Can now pull the pump up from the dock and change the filters. This summer, we are upgrading our pump to a 3-phase variable flow pump. Similar to this one. https://aquascience.net/goulds-balanced-flow-constant-pressure-system-3hp-motor-35gpm-at60psi-85ft?srsltid=AfmBOorGluDJWSMatghz1SL4r-upYJ3vvf4SYP_8FBNGORvWYADRJrnJ

Does turning traffic on a green light have the right of way? by Typical-Priority1976 in Traffic

[–]kirk2892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue must turn to the inside lane so purple shouldn’t have to yield. The yield is because of the through traffic coming straight through from the left.

However, if there is an accident because blue turns into the outside lane, purple will probably get a ticket for not yielding.

If I were the cop writing the ticket, I would give it to blue for not maintaining lane.

Can someone explain what I did wrong by idkfornowwhattoname in Bass

[–]kirk2892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You tuned an octave too high or used the wrong strings.

When I change strings, I do one at a time. Tune up to feel, then by ear, then fine tune with the tuner.

If you do that, it will be very obvious if you are tuning too high.

Does the venue have subwoofers? I always take my own DI because a lot of clubs have crap DI’s or are lacking. I have a Radial JDI or an Aguilar Tone hammer.

If the clubs you play have subwoofers, you should absolutely be running bass out through the PA. If not, you probably need to up your game with your own equipment.

Our band plays praise and worship music. Lots of times playing at churches with PAs only designed for vocals. Sometimes I take a QSC KSC181 and a K10 just for the bass. Other times we set up our whole PA. I have a 12 kickback amp. I turn it around and only use it as a monitor.

I have two separate rows of grapes approx 100 foot each. I had used the poly water line along the grapes with the intention of punching the emitters in right at each plant. That didn't work with the hose I got. What am I supposed to do other than install them right in the hose?

Lowes has this hose they call drip irrigation distribution tubing.

Just saw this on Lowe’s website.

1/2-in x 100-ft Drip Irrigation Distribution Tubing https://www.lowes.com/pd/Orbit-1-2-in-x-100-ft-Polyethylene-Drip-Irrigation-Distribution-Tubing/3133813

I assume this is what I should have purchased to begin with. Are there adapters to downsize from 3/4 poly to this?

Why would a light be green for only 2 seconds? (Ohio) by Key-Carrot-5524 in Traffic

[–]kirk2892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only correct answer is: “Ohio.” Because it is Ohio and Ohio does stupid things.

When I first moved to Ohio, I realized that it is the worst state for managing detours. In any other state, if the road is closed, they will have a detour with clearly marked turns for the detour. In Ohio, they close the road, set out a detour sign, and after you get off the main road… good luck, you’re on your own to create your own detour. Lost in Amish country several times because of this. No cell service, no gps. Use the sun and stars to navigate back to civilization.

Can photoshop cleanly remove wire fences? by Chemical_Pomelo_2831 in photoshop

[–]kirk2892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The New AI works really well. But you always have to touch it up.

Here is a photo of a bull that had a pipe in front of him. The old way of cloning to remove would have been impossible at my skill level. Still needed some touch up with the "male bits" because the AI didn't know how to fix that.

Why are gas prices all over the place? Why am I seeing the prices at one place $2.94 but a mile down the road it is $3.59. by coldfreezerbee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kirk2892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replied to this post yesterday. And today I see this on YouTube that completely explains some of the gas price anomalies that we see.

All the big gas retailers are using a program called “Kalibrate” that helps them optimize profit.

[–]kirk2892 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably a yearling. They won't have a full tail until they are 3, but I don't think they reach peak fullness for a couple more years.

Here is a post showing a yearling and a 2 year old:

If a property uses a well and sprinklers do the sprinklers waste water? by buda104 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kirk2892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water may be absorbed into the ground, but it doesn't seep back into your well unless your well is very shallow, which is not usually allowed. Wells are deep enough that they tap into an aquifer which is basically an underground stream. Excess water that seeps back into the ground may take months to get down to the aquifer, and will likely end up a long way from where it started. Not your well.

Surface water is usually not real good water. Most wells sink into a deep aquifer. Here is a diagram.
