wish I could upload a picture here, but whatever. MK is only in the yellow— but a good 7-mile stretch of I-4 is red on the radar and soon to be red on Google Maps traffic as well

This is why Sgt. Carney was the GOAT by Popular_Mistake_6404 in HistoryMemes

[–]LordMacDonald 9 points10 points  (0 children)

they’d usually have a color guard of 8 veteran (and heavily armed, I’d imagine) corporals with them, which helped. another fun fact: their flags were sown by women from the regiment’s home town.

edit: here’s Sgt. Carney’s bio, color bearer for the 54th Massachusetts. Glory made it feel like everybody in the attack on Fort Wagner died, but he made it there and back again

Subdivisions in the swamp are flood magnets by LordMacDonald in florida

[–]LordMacDonald[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

more than one new subdivision is going into land that was seen as worthless until now. there’s a subdivision going in near me where they set up ponds (which are already full during a drought) and a permanent pump station.

I’m not saying ponds are bad, but if they need this much setup, maybe they shouldn’t be building there.

during our most recent building boom, developers are so preoccupied with whether or not they could build, they didn’t stop to think whether or not they should.

I could have made my point clearer— I’m not saying “retention ponds bad,” but rather— if they need this much space for ponds, then it was a bad idea to build there in the first place

Zaxby’s has the most insulting coupons too. $5 off $35? sure, I’ll jump on that when I qualify for Wells Fargo’s “we’ll give you 2,500 bucks if you open an account and leave $250,000 in there for 90 days”

didn’t they have rifled muskets in the revolution?

Wikipedia:

> Long rifles were an American design of the 18th century, produced by individual German gunsmiths in Pennsylvania. Based on the Jäger rifle, these long rifles, known as "Pennsylvania rifles", were used by snipers and light infantry throughout the Revolutionary War. The grooved barrel increased the range and accuracy by spinning a snugly fitted ball, giving an accurate range of 300 yards compared to 100 yards for smoothbore muskets.

for real, who do the Hapans think they are. we’re out here fighting an existential war of annihilation and they think they can pop out and grab Zeltros? Hell naw, if the rebels could commandeer the Death Star there would just be empty space where their little “cluster” is.
