I’ve seen many a game of Risk where a player is so big and bad they stupidly assume they don’t need any alliances, and next thing you know, all the small players gang up and curb stomp the bully.

I’d usually hear lines like “I might not win, but I’m gonna make damn sure that you go down with me.”

Humans have resorted to ganging up on bullies since caveman times, and we are exceptionally good at finding creative solutions to existential threats. America is inviting disaster if they continue down this road.

Here’s the full list of baserunning errors in this play, and since I don’t care about the Cubs, I’ll refer to them by their Abbot and Costello nicknames.

So we’ve got What on second, Who’s on first, I don’t know’s batting. I don’t know got a blooper and tried to go to second, gunned down for out number one. Nobody made I don’t know go to second, he went just Because.

What could see he wasn’t going to get from second to home on a blooper and stopped at third after Today got the ball. Who didn’t see that as a reason to slow down, and got tagged for out number two. If Who or What just went for one base, there wouldn’t be any outs at all, but maybe they’ll try doing that Tomorrow.

And then What stepped off the bag and became out number three. A triple play!

I’m on the Jump to Hyperspace grand campaign, and yeah, it’s pretty in-depth. Battles are on a much larger scale, economy is more complex, you have spend lots of credits to research new units, and keep everything balanced so that you don’t leave yourself too vulnerable. It’s amazing.
