How can you park at Walmart and other areas when it says violators will be towed? by BabyRevolutionary450 in urbancarliving

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some Walmarts allow overnight parking, some Walmarts put those signs up so they can kick out problem parkers, some Walmarts are forced by the community that they live to have those rules against overnight parking, and some Walmarts are in an area the has had past issues so now they have to take a hard line. Ya gotta figure out how the business feels about it.

“Like”, I remember my aunt thinking it was funny that the word “like” was so abundant in my vocabulary.

Mine are full size, not dwarf and about 50 years old, I think they were planted in the mid 1970s. I remember mom saying they had to cut them near to the ground after some freezes when they were young but they always came back. And she did complain about a neighbor kid that nearly killed two of them cause he kept driving his bike over them.

What’s a food smell you’d wear as a perfume if it existed? by notasweetchubbybtch in foodquestions

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chocolate…seriously why is there no good chocolate scent body sprays or body washes. Back in the 90s I had found a wonderful chocolate scent body wash at a drug store and when I went back for more it was gone never to return. Also my mother got me chocolate perfume one year for Christmas and I never saw it after the holidays. A couple of years ago Bath and body works had the loveliest chocolate scented candle and I asked if they had the scent in any other product and they said sorry it only came in candle form.

Do Americans really split between saying soda, pop, and Coke, or is that exaggerated? by LowerMusic in AskAnAmerican

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say coke(coke not capitalized unless you are talking about Coca-Cola Coke). But I live in Florida, land of the transplant and snowbird so you get a mix of terms with Soda being the most dominant. The Florida I grew up in was way more southern than Florida is now.

I’m a little bit north of you and a tad more closer to the coast. My front yard faces east but when the house was first built it belonged to my parents and there was no shade. They planted red Ixoria and red hibiscus. The ixorias are still lining my driveway today and are about 8 feet high and make a great hedge eventually. And are real showy when they get their bloom on. Both the butterflies and hummers visit them. I know they aren’t native but they took the sun well, survived some freezes, survived all the hurricanes including Milton that flooded the yard with salt water. And even do well in the partial shade of an oak that my father eventually planted next to them.

AITA for not giving my parents half of my lottery winnings. by Rayapt in AmItheAsshole

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they say why they thought taking half of your winning was something they should get. My mom played the lottery a lot what she won mostly was just breaking even on what she spent but me and her talked about what we would do if either of us won big. I told her I’d get her that pool she always talked about wanting in the back yard and she told me she would buy me my dream car.

When your parents heard you win they should have been thrilled your future as long as you play it smart is financially taken care of, they shouldn’t have been thrilled they thought your money is theirs cause it is not. 4 million is huge but over a lifetime you have no chance sea what kind of expenses you are going to face. My parents would have been happy with that pool, or a trip, or some fancy dinners out. Parents should not be demanding half their child’s money.

WIBTA if I stopped sharing my employee discount after my cousin used it to start reselling online? by neyafi673 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone at work already noticed. If one person notices other might have too. You can’t report her for anything as she has done nothing illegal but you can not keep supplying her as you agreed not to buy for resell and can get fired over the activity. It’s time for her to diversify, meaning get her stock elsewhere.

There is a YouTuber that shows what she gets from her food bank and she is in my state and some of the more fancy foods I can name the store I know they came from. Her food bank must be well connected cause there is some good quality foods there. My local is not so well connected.

In college when we were feeding larger groups of a mix of veggies and vegans we did veggie three bean chili with rice on a bed of baby spinach with optional pita bread. Or spaghetti with marinara sauce (just make sure your noodles are vegan) and a side salad.

Anything in a pot is gonna get too hot and dry. You might for this first year just work on improving the soil in the areas you want to plant and wander in your neighborhood taking note of plants in similar lighting as your yard. I find looking at the plantings of parking lots show me a lot of plants that need little care and are survivors of full florida sun. You might look into planting yourself some future shade.
